“Toy Story 4” Has Dropped It’s Tastiest Tie-In Yet

The movie might not debut until June, but Toy Story 4 ice cream is will hit the shelves in the freezer section soon. Reports recently surfaced that Edy’s new Pixar-themed flavors are gradually launching in stores around the United States.

Edy’s isn’t just releasing one Toy Story 4-themed flavor. The movie-inspired ice cream awesomeness will come in two fab flavors: Cinnamon Churro Carnival Combo and Chocolate Peanut Butter Midway Mash.

What can you expect from these from-the-film flavors? The Cinnamon Churro Carnival Combo is a magnificent mix of vanilla ice cream with swirls of cinnamon and churro chunks. The second flavor, Chocolate Peanut Butter Midway Mash, is exactly what the name implies—chocolate ice cream with peanut butter and yes, even more chocolate inside.

Along with the feature film flavors, the packaging also includes some of Toy Story’s most notable faces—and a few new friends, too. Look for Woody, Buzz and Forky (who appeared in the first trailer for Toy Story 4) as well as Bunny and Ducky, new carnival characters voiced by Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key that appeared in the Toy Story 4 reaction trailer.

According to PEOPLE, a rep from Nestle confirmed that the two new flavors are available for a limited time through September 2019. Where can you find the new limited-edition Toy Story 4 ice cream? According to Nestle, the flavors are available now at stores throughout the country, so that means you’ll have to check your grocer’s freezer section—and often!

The First Look at Toy Story 4 Is Here & We’re Not Ready for It All to End

New “Toy Story 4” Trailer Gives Fans Their First Real Sneak Peek of the Movie

The Super Bowl might have not been the most exciting game in history, but it brought out one thing any fan could cheer about: the new Toy Story 4 trailer. Nestled among the many commercials Disney lovers found this teaser of all the great Story Story things to come. And if you missed it, read on for all the details!

Okay, okay so the newest trailer, like the teasers that came before it, isn’t exactly a major giveaway. So what do we really know? Well to start with, Bo Peep is back after a 20-year hiatus. According to a press release, the film’s director, Josh Cooley, said of Bo’s return, “While Woody was watching Andy grow up, Bo gathered dust until she took it upon herself to head out into the world. And when Woody shows up, they can’t believe that they’ve found each other again.”

If you’re looking for a major storyline tease, the teaser (along with the rest of the movie’s press) doesn’t get much deeper. We already know there’s a new googley eyed, pipe cleaner armed spork named Forky (voiced by Tony Hale). And we also know that Keegen-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are voicing carnival prize toys. But for any other details it looks like we might need to wait until the Jun. 21 release date!

There are book giveaways, readings by your favorite local authors, performances and tons of fun for the whole family. Read on to find out what you can expect when you head over!

To Do
There’s no shortage of family-friendly options at the festival. The stage is where you’ll find storytelling and live performances for every kind of reader.

As if that wasn’t enough, through a partnership with Half Price Books the festival will give away thousands of free kids’ books to encourage reading. Finally, there’s an epic list of fun stuff and DIY projects throughout the event, sponsored by Bay Area non-profits and service providers, like book-making and jugglers to bounce houses and a kiddie carnival (with rides, natch), making this a perfect festival of fun. Check here to plan your schedule then stop by the Family Fest Zone first thing.

To Learn
This year’s festival includes special focus on “Women Lit,” Native American voices, youth and writing/publishing. YA and children’s programming is especially strong with new middle-grade books from Dave Eggers, Newbery Award winner Katherine Applegate (The One and Only Ivan, Wishtree) and former U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera, among many others.

To Watch
No doubt, the stars of this event are the books and their creators. All-star artists and illustrators including popular children’s authors like Dan Santat and Aaron Reynolds (authors of the new book, Dude!)—among many others—will be sharing their stories with kids in a big tent on the grass. It’s sure to get your family reading all the books.

To Inspire
For the older readers in your family there’s a poetry slam, a performance workshop and many panels featuring their favorite YA and middle grade authors. Lots here to get the gears turning for your future authors-in-training.

To Know
This event is two full days featuring nearly 250 authors. The festival will be clustered in Berkeley’s Civic Center Park and adjacent blocks. All outdoor venues have free admission. For indoor programs, the prices vary from a $10 guaranteed seat for a single event to a $15 general wristband that gets you into all events for both days (first-come first-served). Everyone under 18 gets in free to all indoor events, no wristbands needed. Expect some lines, but crowds aren’t bad when they’re full of happy readers. One too many trips to an arcade-filled pizza joint with a rat-turned-mouse mascot can make these child-centric establishments feel not-so-special come birthday time. To usher in your wee one’s next year of life, these places are the best of the best for kid-friendly celebrations even adults will love.

Best Birthday Songs

Alero Restaurant

It doesn’t get more festive than a Mariachi band belting out a birthday ditty; most days you’ll find sombrero-wearing guitar players strolling through this U street hot spot, but if you come here on an off- night, don’t worry! The restaurant staff will sing with the same gusto of its resident Latin band, shaking maracas and pounding (loudly) on drums. Your kids are sure to remember this birthday rendition for years to come.

1301 U St., NW (U Street Corridor)
Buca di Beppo
Yes, it’s a chain-restaurant. (Sigh). But the fun, kitschy atmosphere paired with its unique, upbeat hand-clapping birthday song make it a great place to cut cake with family. And the best part, the cake (with a festive, Italian flag) is free on your birthday!

Best Birthday Desserts

Osteria Marzano

Skip the traditional birthday cake at this modern, brick-oven pizza joint where — in addition to classic Italian desserts — you can order a dessert pizza for your favorite pie-lover: instead of tomato sauce, this oven-fired dough is topped with Nutella and gooey, toasted marshmallows. And, yes!, it is a full-size pizza… if you can’t finish it, it heats up well in the microwave for a next-day celebration.

Co Co Sala

This chocolate-themed lounge has a very grown-up feel, but despite it’s swank-factor, it is kid-accommodating. Ask for a seat at the “Chocolate Bar”  — where artisanal chocolatiers handcraft sweets — and even the oldest members of your party will feel like kids again. Skip dinner all-together and opt for a three-course dessert experience for your little birthday boy or girl with each sweet dish bearing a special, chocolate birthday message.

Best Overall Party Atmosphere

HalfSmoke

A meal at this Shaw output feels a lot like a day at a carnival with menu options like top-your-own personal sized funnel cake and milkshakes with fluffy cotton candy topping. Little ones will enjoy the giant Jenga (perfect for tiny fingers). And a day at the carnival wouldn’t be complete without one of those vintage-y photo strips — Halfsmoke offers a free photo booth to capture the birthday festivities.

651 Florida Ave NW (Washington, DC)
H Street Country Club
On most nights, H Street is more bar than Mexican restaurant, but this game-themed cantina is not just for “big kid” parties.  Come here on family night (Tuesday) and indoor miniature golf is just $4 per person with the purchase of dinner. It is also family friendly between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to putt putt, this country club has other boardwalk games like shuffleboard, skeeball and giant Jenga.

This summer, make the Olympics a cultural celebration; spend an afternoon working on a colorful and fun craft that puts the spotlight on one of Brazil’s most iconic events—Carnival. We’ve gathered the supplies to make a Brazilian headdress, which your budding Samba school tykes can wear during the opening ceremonies on August 5. Scroll down for the entire tutorial and remember—bigger and brighter is always better!

What You’ll Need

Costume Masks  – we used these

Feathers – we used these

Gemstones – we used these

Paint – any tempera or acrylic with work

Glitter Glue – we used this in red

Hot Glue Gun or Elmer’s Glue

Spray Glitter (optional)

Paint the Mask

Get your kids set up with the materials and let them paint away. If they want to add designs with paint, be sure to wait until each coat is dry before beginning another

Decorate the Mask

Step One
Using either a hot glue gun (parental supervision is required) or Elmer’s glue, let your crafters embellish their headdresses with colorful jewels. During Carnival, Samba schools try to outshine each other with dazzling displays, so encourage your kids to add as much as they want!

Step Two
If you have glitter glue, this is the time to use it, either around the gemstones or as the glue for the gemstones—it’s up to your kids and their imaginations!

Step Three
Adding feathers can be tricky. Parents should help (or supervise older kids) with the hot glue gun. If you don’t have one, use tape to fasten the feathers to the back of the mask. Go with one color or make a colorful display with as many different feathers as possible. Afterwards, spray the feathers with spray glitter if you have it on hand.

Wear the Mask

After everything dries, it’s time to shake a tail feather.

Try it as a mask.

Then, try it as a headdress!

We get it. It’s summer break, you’ve had a long day, and a drink or two shouldn’t hurt, right? Watch this viral video of a dad being ‘driven’ home from the local pub by his young son. It’s giving parents quite the laugh.

Concerned folks, don’t worry. According to Metro UK, the two were on their way back home from a carnival, and the dad (not the son) was actually the one controlling the toy car with a remote control.
