Babies have so many adorable milestones and first moments, but when you’re a Royal those firsts can be a little different. This week Meghan Markle brought baby Archie to his very first playdate with his cousins that just happened to be a polo match.

While dad Prince Harry was busy playing in the charity match, the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day in Wokingham, England, mom had her hands full holding Archie as they cheered him on. Duchess Kate Middleton was also in attendance with her own little ones, including Prince Louis, who is no longer the baby of the family. They were also cheering on their dad, Prince William who played in the match as well.

It’s been a busy week for the two-month-old royal who was just in the spotlight over the weekend when the Royal family celebrated Archie’s baptism in an intimate ceremony.

Your kiddo’s fave bedtime read is about to turn half a century old! Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary—and here’s what the iconic author had to say about it.

In celebration of the big 5-0, Carle talked children’s lit in a video from earlier this year. So what (or rather who) does Carle credit for this book’s success? The author explained, “I think the children are the ones who’ve kept it in the market for 50 years.”

Carle also added, “I think it is a book of hope.” The children’s author went on to say,  “Children need hope. You, little insignificant caterpillar, can grow up into a beautiful butterfly and fly into the world with your talent. Will I ever be able to do that? Yes, you will. I think that is the appeal of that book.”

The author and artist isn’t the only one who’s celebrating his book’s major milestone. Plenty of kids’ lit lovers took to social media, cheering for the caterpillar. One mama showed off a caterpillar-themed quilt she made for her kiddo.

And plenty of libraries and children’s/early literacy organizations took to Twitter, wishing the book a very happy birthday!

Science Explains Why You Should Hold Onto All Those Kids Books

The One Thing Every Parent Can Do to Help Their Kids Learn 1 Million Words

Ruby Kate Chitsey spends a lot of time in nursing homes, despite the fact that she is only 11 years old;Ruby Kate’s mom, Amanda Milford Chitsey, is a nurse practitioner serving five nursing homes near Harrison, Arkansas. After discovering that many residents were in need of some cheering up and extra care, she launched a campaign and raised money to grant wishes.

During the summer Ruby Kate, likes to accompany her mom to work and spend time with the residents and last year she got the idea to give them some much needed joy. She came up with a plan to grant wishes for the residents, with a project she called “Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents.”

“They weren’t new cars or a million dollars [they wanted]. They were very simple things that you could just go in Walmart and get—and that’s what we do,” Ruby Kate told CNN.

To help make those simple, but life-changing wishes come true, Ruby Kate’s mom helped her set up a GoFundMe campaign. She has since raised $70,000 and granted hundreds of wishes from basic needs like blankets and pillows, to Happy Meals and dolls for dementia patients.

Ruby Kate’s mom couldn’t be more proud of what her daughter has accomplished and her work is not over yet. “I think Ruby’s starting a movement—recognizing a need and just doing something about it. This is about their quality of life—bringing them joy,” Chitsey said.

8 Easy Ways Your Kids Can Give Back All Year Round

My children are little enigmas.

They’re so ridiculously cute and sweet with their soft, smooth skin, big, bright eyes and gorgeous, baby-like voices.

They’re also demanding, exhausting and sometimes even downright disgusting.

One minute, they’ll stop what they’re doing and look up at me and smile with their tiny little perfect teeth, wrinkling their gorgeous, freckled noses and say “I love you Mommy! You’re the best!” And then the next thing I know they’re yelling“JUICE!!!” at me at the top of their lungs to indicate they’re thirsty before running off to play in the toilet water.

Ah, kids.

So why on earth would you ever want three of them? I have three children age 6 and under and I’ll let you in on a little secret. They’re ridiculously fun. Since having my third kid, I’ve experienced more chaos, noise and exhaustion than ever before – but I’ve also had more love and happiness in my life than I ever thought imaginable.

If you’re on the fence about adding more kids to your clan, here are just 5 reasons why you should have three of them:

1. You’ll really stop sweating the small stuff. The first kid is generally the ‘test child’. You have no idea what you’re doing, but you’ll try it out anyway and then learn from your mistakes. With the second kid, you’re still cautious about your parenting. You’ve likely learned more, but you can still be a touch nervous. By the third child, you practically let them raise themselves. They learn that sometimes they have to wait. Sometimes they can’t have what they want the minute they want it. The tantrums don’t seem to rattle you anymore. And you realize that they’ll be okay if they have a soother until they’re 4 or don’t walk until way later than the neighbour’s kid. You have the knowledge that everything is probably going to turn out okay and as a result, you can relax a whole lot more.

2. You’ll always have someone around to snuggle.  Kids are busy little creatures. And they always seem to be mastering some new skill which means they’re too busy for a good, long snuggle with Mom & Dad. Unless, of course, you have three. There’s always bound to be one kid up for a cuddle. When my 6-year-old is too busy reading or coloring to actually stop and let me snuggle her – I curl up with my 4-year-old on the couch. When my 4-year-old doesn’t want to stop playing, I snuggle the 6-year-old and talk about her day. And on the days when everyone is too busy or too distracted – I can always rely on my 2-year-old to melt into my body for a long, reassuring cuddle before bed.

3. Life will be louder and sillier and chaotic.  But that’s how life should be, shouldn’t it? I want my days to leave me exhausted, but happy. Tired, but overflowing with laughter. And you can absolutely do all that with one or two kids. But when you throw another kid into the mix, life just gets more everything. And I welcome it with open arms.

4. Big(ish) families are fun!  There’s always someone to play with. To share inside jokes with. You’ll always have someone cheering you on. To curl up and watch TV with. I love our loud, rousing dinner conversations during the holidays. Three kids puts us into the category of a bigger family. And it really is a lot of fun.

5. You’ll finally be complete. If you’re even a little unsure about whether you’re done or not, it probably means your family is not yet complete. At least, that was my experience. I thought I was done after two. I was very happy and content. I loved everything about my life. Yet, when my third little baby came into my life, I realized I was waiting for her. And now, our family is whole.

Actor and father of three Chris Hemsworth had to leave his littles at home as he presented at last night’s Golden Globes, but that didn’t stop his kiddos from cheering Daddy on.

Chris’ wife, Elsa Pataky, shared a photo on Instagram of daughter India Rose, 4, and twin sons Tristan and Sasha, 2, sitting next to a doll version of Hemsworth’s Thor character while they waited to see him on-screen.

You can see one of their boys reaching for dad to give him a hug, while their other son is dressed like his dad’s character Thor.

The children’s uncle, Cristian Prieto, originally posted the adorable picture with the caption, “Watching Papa on TV!”

Construction worker Jason Haney is cheering up the young patients at Memorial Children’s Hospital in South Bend South Bend, Indiana. Every day, Jason hides a life-size Waldo cut-out somewhere in the construction site next door to the hospital so children can play a good ol’ game of Where’s Waldo?

As soon as everyone found Waldo, Jason moves the large character to a different spot, encouraging the children to keep playing. Jason has even started a Facebook group, where patients can post Waldo’s finding.
