Dear Laundry,

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for always being there for me. I just can’t quit you, no matter how hard I try.

I’m sorry I get mad at you sometimes it’s just…I need space, you know? Even when I go away for a day or two, I can always count on you, waiting patiently, for my attention. You don’t mind chilling all clean in a basket while I pretend you don’t exist. You don’t mind when I leave you in the dryer and forget about you until I wash some of your friends. Heck even when you’re overflowing in the hamper, you don’t get mad me. You just wait until I’m ready, which is true compassion. Clean, dirty, left in the washer so I have to wash you again…you just stay. Day after day. Week after week. Month after month. For the rest of my life until I die. Dang, Laundry. That’s some real devotion there.

You don’t happen to know Dinner, do you? She’s not quite as…zen as you are, Laundry. She’s a little more demanding and pretty possessive actually. Between you and me, Dinner can be kind of be a b*tch. But I still gotta chill with Dinner, even when she’s being a total b. She’s not like you, Laundry. She can’t be left alone, not even for one day. Very needy. And a total diva to boot.

She constantly needs to be coddled with options and demands I shop for her at least once a week and then half the time she just lets herself go to waste because God forbid she hang out with Leftovers while I take a night off to see Bookclub. But do you think Dinner cares about my needs? No. In fact, lately, all Dinner does is get upset that it’s Chicken. Again. As if Chicken is going to be her ruination. As if Chicken is some sort of gateway to Liver.

Well, guess what? I’m done being ashamed of Chicken. Chicken gets me. Chicken is low maintenance. Chicken is adaptable to my needs and if Dinner is going to demand nightly visitation and weekly shopping, I’m bringing Chicken whenever I want, however, I want. Dinner even expects me to be perfectly punctual each night and if I dare be a little early or a little late, there’s no compassion. There’s no understanding. There’s just interrogation. Where here have you been? What have you been doing? Who were you with? I mean she literally doesn’t do crap all day except sit around and wait for me then conveniently forgets that I’m also dealing with Breakfast. And Lunch. And Snacks. Snacks alone thinks he might die if we don’t hang out seven times a day but at least he only needs a minute of my time. At least he’s not sucking the soul out of my life.

I’m beginning to think that Dinner and I might need a trial separation.

But don’t worry Laundry. I could never abandon you like that. I don’t need Dinner the way I need you because frankly…I’ve got Popcorn. But without you, Laundry, I have nothing. I know it might not always feel like it, but…I see you. I support you. And always remember—I will get to you. Eventually.

I’ll check in with you later. I gotta go see what’s up with Dishwasher. He’s so full of it.

Stay folded.

Love,

Me

If this drink sounds familiar, it’s because the Churro Swirl originally launched in 2018 and was later added to the permanent menu. The limited-edition chilly beverage also joins other Chillatta flavors, such as OREO Cookies & Cream and Strawberries & Cream.

The Churro Chillatta is available for a limited time at Cinnabon mall bakeries nationwide, starting at $6.29. To find a location near you, visit Cinnabon.com.

The official first day of fall is still almost a month away, but not at Starbucks! The coffee retailer recently declared an Aug. 27 start to autumn—complete with a brand-new Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew.

Even though the PSL is a fall fave (for the 16th year in a row), Sbucks recently announced the release of the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. So if you’re still sweltering away in the late-August weather, you can get another chilled out pumpkin fix in with this iced pick.

As the first new pumpkin cold coffee drink since the PSL debuted in 2003, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew is a caffeinated history maker. The drink is made with Starbucks Cold Brew, vanilla and a pumpkin cream cold foam. Top that with pumpkin spice and you’ve got fall in a cup.

Along with the new Cold Brew, look for other fall selections to hit Starbucks’ menu. The Salted Caramel Mocha, Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin, Pumpkin Scone, Pumpkin Spice Madeleines, Cat Cake Pop and, of course, PSL will debut Aug. 27.

Cold brew is basically the tired mom’s secret weapon: it’s naturally sweet, smooth and best of all, caffeinated. Listen up, mamas: Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew is (finally) making its way to all the coffee retailer’s company-owned stores by the end of 2019! We’ve got the deets on all the chilled happiness.

Fans of this fave know that Nitro Cold Brew isn’t exactly new—but only cold coffee lovers in select cities were privy to it. Now, according to transcripts from the company’s 27th annual shareholders meeting on Mar. 20, it looks like popular drink is going nationwide.

The Nitro Cold Brew is at its heart, a cold cup o’ coffee. What makes the Nitro Cold Brew such a treat is that Starbucks brews its delish drink in small batches, slow-steeping it to create a smooth taste before infusing it with nitrogen for a sweet finishing flavor. Beyond the taste, the nitrogen also adds a special bubbly texture, giving the coffee a tasty froth, not unlike a pint of beer.

Look for Nitro Cold Brew to roll out at Starbucks stores nationwide sometime this year.

Starbucks’ Newest Macchiato Will Make You Feel Like You’re Floating on a Cloud

Your New Year’s resolutions may have fallen by the wayside, but that doesn’t mean you have to go all in when it comes to dessert-time. There’s a way to get your sweet fix without totally straying. And pretty soon your fave grocer will have a new option. Trader Joe’s ice cream line is getting an addition—and it includes low-calorie flavors.

In a recent Inside Trader Joe’s podcast, a TJ’s product developer dished on the soon-to-be addition of high-protein, low-calorie ice creams to the store’s frozen foods section. And if you’re wondering why you Trader Joe’s hasn’t already jumped on the low-cal chilled treat bandwagon, according to the product developer, “All the ones on the market have sugar alcohols, which is something we avoid in our private label brands.”

So what can you expect from TJ’s new high-protein/low-cal treat? Judging by the info from the podcast, the creamy delight will come in two flavors—cookies and cream and peanut butter chocolate. One pint will total just over 300 calories. While it’s not exactly on par with eating a steak, the cookies and cream flavor provides 20 grams of protein and the chocolate peanut butter will have 23 grams.

Even though the podcast promises the debut of the ice cream flavors sometime soon, as of now there’s no word on a debut date.

Cookies stuffed with a chocolate hazelnut spread? We’re sold. And, so is our D.C. Editor, Ayren who discovered this recipe last year on Pinterest when she was looking for a sweet treat for a cookie swap. They were so delicious that she promised herself she’d make them on a yearly basis. Here’s to year two!

Ingredients:
2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter
1 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg plus 1 egg yolk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 tablespoon plain greek yogurt
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
1 jar of chocolate hazelnut spread, chilled in refrigerator
Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Method:
1. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and set aside. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. The butter will begin to foam. Make sure you whisk consistently during this process. After a couple of minutes, the butter will begin to brown on the bottom of the saucepan; continue to whisk and remove from heat as soon as the butter begins to brown and give off a nutty aroma. Immediately transfer the butter to a bowl to prevent burning. Set aside to cool for a few minutes.

2. With an electric mixer, mix the butter and sugars until thoroughly blended. Beat in the egg, yolk, vanilla, and yogurt until combined. Add the dry ingredients slowly and beat on low-speed just until combined. Gently fold in all of the chocolate chips.

3. Chill your dough for 2 hours in the refrigerator, or place in freezer for 30 minutes if you are super eager, although I cannot promise the same results if you do this.

4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Once dough is chilled measure about 1 1/2 tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball. Flatten the dough ball very thinly into the palm of your hand. Place 1 teaspoon of chilled hazelnut spread in the middle and fold dough around it; gently roll into a ball — it doesn’t have to be perfectly rolled! Make sure that the hazelnut spread is not seeping out of the dough. Add more dough if necessary. Place dough balls on cookie sheet, 2 inches apart and flatten with your hand VERY gently. (Really only the tops need to be flattened a bit!)

5. Bake the cookies 9-11 minutes or until the edges of the cookies begin to turn golden brown. They will look a bit underdone in the middle, but will continue to cook once out of the oven. Cool the cookies on the sheets at least 2 minutes. Sprinkle with a little sea salt. Remove the cooled cookies from the baking sheets after a few minutes and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Repeat with remaining dough.

Tell us in the comments below how your cookies turn out!
