Flower petals make the perfect materials for creating a few fairies, or a butterfly….or, a stegosaurus? Yup, this simple art project from Childhood 101 allows imaginations to run wild with just a few handful of the floral stuff. Mum and project creator Christie suggests only collecting flowers that have recently fallen, or only taking a few petals from growing blooms. For more ideas on this charming art and more ideas, check out Childhood 101.

Flower Loom Weaving
Preschoolers can tackle this Reggio-inspired nature project with big brother or sister. The hardest part about this amazing idea is creating the actual loom—and even that is do-able for the non-crafty folks out there. Melting Rainbows
It’s a science experiment and art class all rolled into one. Meg Duerksen and her crew tried their hand at the colorful creation and the results were awesome. With just a little hot glue (to keep the crayons on the canvas) a hair dryer and a steady hand, watch the oozing and goozing turn into amazing. Don’t want to buy a whole new box of Crayola? Downsize and use broken crayon bits instead. Find out why it’s best to leave out brown by paying a visit to Meg Duerksen.

Food photos have never been so cute until this Instagramming dad came along. Mike Chau‘s lil’ epicure (and full time son) steals the spotlight from mouth-watering meals with his expressive faces and unsuspecting times as a photo prop (we’ll take one donut hat, thank you). Wondering how to get that creamy ice cream on your hands? Luckily Chau tags all the shops so you don’t have to guess! Follow @foodbabyny for more scrumptious photos.

Itching to have some fun with food? Check out these cool ideas and treats that’ll make snacking time a blast!

While popsicle sticks may conjure up memories of summer nights chasing after the ice cream truck and chlorine-stained hair, your kids, who may or may not know the hottest spots for gelato around town, might not hold the same appreciation for these wooden sticks like you do. Show your kids the glory of the popsicle stick and the amazing creations you can make with the little wooden stems. From popsicle fish to airplanes, we’ve come up with seven cool ideas to turn those recycled sticks into cool crafts.

Fish!

Add a little imagination, some glue, glitter and a googly eye and your little one can create these awesome, sparkly popsicle fish. Make them in different colors and string them up on fishing wire. These sparkly fish make nifty wall hangers or mobiles!

Which one do you plan to make?
