Parents are working overtime to make sure their kids have a fun summer in the wake of camp and program closures. Walmart just announced two new experiences to help families make memories together turning parking lots and backyards into places where memories are made. Camp by Walmart is a free star-studded virtual camp that brings summer fun into your own backyard and a touring drive-in movie theater will transform Walmart parking lots into outdoor cinemas.
“Summer hasn’t really felt like summer yet and I know I hear every day, ‘Mom, I’m bored!’,” said Janey Whiteside, chief customer officer, Walmart. “Through our digital means and vast footprint of stores, we’re hoping to bring some summer fun to families across the country. We know Walmart plays a role in our communities that extends far beyond getting them necessary supplies, and we see that now more than ever.”
Walmart is teaming up with Drew Barrymore, Neil Patrick Harris, LeBron James, Idina Menzel and Todd Oldham to bring summer fun to kids across the country through a new camp designed for the internet, Camp by Walmart, produced and developed in partnership with CAMP, a Family Experience Company, and powered by the interactive video platform eko. Each professional is stepping outside of their day job to serve as camp counselors, leading kids through sessions varying from arts and crafts to fitness and other activities to keep them active and entertained.
Starting Jul. 8, families can access 50 Camp by Walmart activities for free by visiting the Walmart app. Celebrity and expert-led camp sessions will roll out across the summer, including:
“The Great Family Challenge,” which features various family-bonding activities, including actress Drew Barrymore taking campers through a make-up tutorial and basketball star LeBron James leading participants through mental and physical activities with help from his I PROMISE School educators
A morning kick-off with Head Camp Counselor, actor Neil Patrick Harris, who sends families through one of 14 camp challenges, from “Neil’s Charades” to musical Mad Libs
“Skills Camp” is a talent show which features experts teaching new skills, like singer and actress Idina Menzel, who showcases her singing skills to campers
Designer Todd Oldham reimagines “Smarts and Crafts,” which teaches campers about creativity through the lens of arts, crafts and fashion
Camp by Walmart will offer 200 more new activities throughout the summer to keep families everywhere entertained.
To access Camp by Walmart, customers can download the Walmart app, or update their existing Walmart app, and look for Camp by Walmart in the app’s Services tab from the bottom navigation.
Additionally, if your family is missing the big screen, Walmart will be working with Tribeca Enterprises for two drive-in experiences. Walmart is transforming 160 of its store parking lots into contact-free drive-in movie theaters where customers can safely gather to watch movies programmed by the Tribeca Drive-in team.
Beginning in August, Walmart will roll out this red carpet experience in towns across the country for a combined 320 showings. This family-friendly night will include hit movies, special appearances from filmmakers and celebrities and concessions delivered right to customer vehicles.
Walmart’s drive-in tour will run through October. Additional details will be announced closer to the start of the tour. More information can be found at https://walmartdrive-in.com/.
Ahead of each screening, Walmart will make it easy for families to fill their picnic baskets by ordering their drive-in essentials online for curbside pickup on the way to their movie. If you want to catch a film now, Walmart is also partnering with the Tribeca Drive-in to serve as a presenting partner for its Tribeca Drive-In movie series, which begins this Thurs., Jul. 2.
“Drive-Ins have been a signature program for Tribeca since we started the Tribeca Film Festival 19 years ago after 9/11,” says Jane Rosenthal, CEO and Co-Founder of Tribeca Enterprises and Tribeca Film Festival. “But now, the Tribeca Drive-In is much more than a fun, retro way to see movies — it’s one of the safest ways for communities to gather. We are thrilled to partner with Walmart to bring more people together around the shared cinematic experiences that Tribeca is known for.”
Throughout July, families in Arlington, TX, Pasadena, CA, Nassau County, NY and Orchard Beach in the Bronx, NY will be treated to Tribeca Drive-In screenings of modern classics and family favorites, like Wonder Woman and Space Jam, with a mix of ticketed and free events honoring frontline workers. The full schedule and tickets can be found at TribecaFilm.com.

Curly Crop
Just because you have wavy locks doesn't mean you have to keep them long. Get to a skilled stylist to crop your curls so that they lay right, without excess bulk. Invest in some great product and rock you cute curly 'do with this amazingly adorable short curly hairstyle.
Medium length styles are beyond versatile. Long enough for braids and pony's, but short enough to not feel overwhelming, have your stylist give a textured cut that adds volume without the frizz.

Why battle the bulge when you can rock your curly hair with some big body? Whether you have loose waves or tight curls, embrace the fullness and accessories with scarves and headbands to complete your look.
Curly-haired folk have missed out on many a bang style over the decades, but not anymore! If you have tight spiral curls, there's absolutely no reason not to flash your fringe. Go for a manageable length and go out with a bang.
Enjoy your waves but keep them out of your face with this half-up mini twist style. Grab your top layer of hair, do a simple twist then just pin with bobby pins! This style works great for an everyday look or even a night out.
Dress up this uncomplicated braid with a headband for the perfect look for any day. We love the simple, side swept look with framing layers and the added bonus of a cute hair accessory! Curly or straight, this look is for everyone.
Pony tails are classic for a reason: they look great on everyone and can be dressed up or down! When it comes to controlling your waves, a low pony plus a cute head scarf makes this look appear a little more pulled together and great for day or night.
Want to dress up? This half braid is great for keeping hair off your face, while still putting your curls on display. If you're talented in braiding, give this sophisticated look a try!
Holy curls, batman! Let your curls do their thang with this simple style that packs a punch. Rather than wrapping all your hair into a smooth bun, let some hang out in all their glory.

Who doesn’t love free movies? Check out these sources to find free movies for kids online that the whole family can enjoy together
The internet is full of entertainment choices, and you know that there’s good stuff to watch (like these free movies on YouTube) out there, but to find it, you have to wade through a bunch of muck. Who has the time? Lucky for you, we’ve already done the research. We looked for ethical sources (nothing has been pirated), and sites that are easy to use and offer a wide variety of films and found six of the best places to find free movies for kids online. All that’s left is to make the popcorn!
Hoopla is a free service offered through many local libraries. Through Hoopla, you can stream up to 15 videos per month with no wait times. Videos do expire 72 hours after you first choose one, but you can rent it again and pick up right where you left off. There are no late fines either. There are lots of movies to choose from for both kids and families alike.
Another free service offered through your local library is Kanopy Kids, which presents programming that is educational, enriching, and entertaining. They offer movies and short films that are engaging for both kids and their parents. The selection of films in the catalog encourages social and emotional development, promotes respect for community diversity, and inspires creativity.
You already know YouTube as the site you go to when you need a break but really should be working. Did you know that in addition to silly cat videos, they offer a whole array of movies to watch, with a good chunk of them for free? Of course, there’s a catch: Most of the free movies on YouTube are ad-supported—meaning the cost is watching a few commercials before the movie starts. It’s a little tricky to navigate and be sure that you are the one doing the searching, as every free movie they offer (from family-friendly to not-so-much) is listed in one area.
While you may be debating about getting a Roku for your TV, you don’t actually need a special device to take advantage of the free offerings found on The Roku Channel. Unlike many of the other free movie choices, you’ll find a lot more recent films here and a lot more offerings for everyone in the family including lots of children’s TV shows for kids from age 1 on up.
While Popcornflix says that they have “compelling documentaries, foreign films, unique original web series, and a place that showcases the brightest filmmakers of tomorrow,” we found their offerings to be a little lackluster overall. Still, free is free, and there are still a few good flicks here.
