While Seattle has its fair share of sunshine, it also has (more than) its fair share of what seems to be endless cloudy days. When it seems like the clouds and rain won’t ever go away or when the sunshine is so bright it leaves you longing for a tropical vacation, cozy up to one (or all) of these Hawaiian restaurants and let your mind and your taste buds relax in the comforts of island-inspired cuisine.

Saimin Says

As its namesake indicates, Saimen Says specializes in fresh Hawaiian Saimin noodles. Saimin noodles are a soft, thick egg based noodle and are accompanied by a large bowl of hot broth. These noodle bowls are customarily a Hawaiian comfort food and have a wide variety of add-ins.

Choose from noodle bowls such as the Kau Kau Saimin with kamaboko (a white fish product), green onions and either island beef or chicken. If the kamaoko isn’t your style, try the Curry Saimin with chicken surrounded by a plethora of veggies. Any way you slurp it, these dishes will fill your tummy while getting your mainland fill of island faire. If Saimen Says to eat, then eat you must! Enjoy the full range of menu items and explore island favorites such as the Kalua Pig and Cabbage or Shoyu Chicken.

To satisfy smaller tots, there is Keiki menu full of choices like Island Beef with Rice or more traditional fish and chips. If you’re feeling up for an authentic food adventure, try out the Hawaiian sushi; otherwise known as musubi. Choose which meat to have wrapped over a rice bed and tied off with roasted seaweed. Do yourself a favor and try the spicy Spam Musubi (or regular Spam if ‘spicy’ is a tad too hot to handle). Although these are sold individually, you will soon realize that one is not enough.
