Namaste: Yoga for Atlanta’s Small Set

Trending Now

A class that will teach our tots deep breathing and calming poses? We’ll do a million sun salutations for that one. Read on to find out where your wee ones can get their downward dog on. Now, take a deep inhale and let me hear you say “ommmm.”

Grounded Yoga
The mission for the Grounded Yoga program is for kids to feel comfy in who they are and they are proud to be the only kids yoga training program in Atlanta. Teacher and Co-Grounder Cheryl Crawford says, “Yoga teaches kids and teens how to manage their body through alignment actions, and observe reactions and tendencies without judgment. Laughter fuels our classes and reveals the silliness of kids’ innate joyful nature that is often hidden within their hearts.” The Grounded team also brings the practice of yoga into schools across the southeast.

Good to Know: Grounded classes can be found throughout the metro area. Click here to see their schedule of classes.

Decatur Yoga and Pilates
This studio uses the Grounded method to teach kids (ages 4 and up) how to transform bad patterns into good energy through the practice of yoga. Classes teach balance, concentration and gradually build your child’s knowledge of yoga techniques that promote a strong sense of self, positive body health and awareness. Don’t miss their Parent/Child yoga workshops throughout the year. These classes are for kids ages 6-12 and their parents and offer the chance for families to get their zen on together. 431 West Ponce de Leon Avenue, Decatur

Good to Know: This studio is next door to the Dancing Goats Coffee Shop. Stop by after class for a green or chai tea.

Atlanta Kids Yoga
Atlanta Kids Yoga brings the practice to many Atlanta area schools. These after school enrichment programs combine meditation, breathing exercises, child friendly poses, music and art for a well rounded and centering yoga experience.  They welcome the opportunity to offer their classes at your child’s school and also offer private lessons. See a sample class offering and a list of schools they serve at their website.

Good to Know: This team serves children as young as pre-school age at their daycare based in-school programs.

Intown Tumbling and Yoga for Kids
What began as a tumbling studio in a Poncey-Highland warehouse, ventured into yoga when Owner/Instructor Kim Steen saw the calming effects the practice had on her young nephew. After gaining Karma Kids and Grounded training the studio added yoga to their class offerings. This studio sees increased coordination, balance, self esteem, and improved body image as just a few of the reasons kids should practice yoga. Through fun activities like “ toe-ga”, in which kids use their toes to lift cotton balls, dexterity and concentration skills are honed. Intown Tumbling and Yoga is a kid-only studio that welcomes children ages two years through teen to come and feel the peace, energy, and joy of yoga. 828 Ralph McGill Blvd, Unit W-9

Good to Know: Spaces are still open for their July and August summer camps!
