You know how there are New Yorkers who have never been to the top of the Empire State Building?  Don’t raise the L.A. version of that kid!  With so much to do here, and traffic being, well, LA traffic, it’s easy to miss a few “gottas.”  So, check our bucket list of the 10 things all kids growing up in Los Angeles should experience, and see what you can cross off — and where you should be heading this weekend.

See the Rose Parade in Person

You’ve always meant to go to the Rose Parade, not just stare at it blearily on TV. While the rest of the world wakes up to sub zero temps on the first day of the year and flips to the tv to see floats, you can see them live. In fact, you can go behind the scenes on the days leading up to the Rose Parade to see how the floats are made and meet the bands and horses that march along. So while we agree that getting up even earlier than usual makes for a sleepy start to the New Year, it’s also one that your kids will remember forever, and is really worth doing at least once!
