How do parents really feel about playdates? Researchers from the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital used data from the National Poll on Children’s Health to find answers.

According to the poll (which included a national sample of parents of kiddos ages four through nine), supervision is the number one concern about playdates. A whopping 75 percent of parents surveyed said they would definitely ask the host who will supervise the children.

Of course, supervision wasn’t the only concern. Fifty-five percent of parents said they’d ask about activities, 46 percent would want to know if the playdate would include older sibs or other adults, 41 percent would inquire about potential injury risks (such as trampolines or pools), 38 percent wanted to know about pets, 34 percent would ask about guns in the home and 24 percent would ask the host about medication storage spots.

The poll also revealed that 22 percent of parents would allow their child to go to a playdate at a home of a family they didn’t know without their own presence. Forty-three percent said that they’d allow their child to go, but would stay with them. Twenty-two percent of parents surveyed said they’d outright decline the playdate.

When it comes to pre-playdate meet-ups, an overwhelming 84 percent of parents were all for it. Along with an in-person meet and greet, parents also admitted they’d do some of their own sleuthing. Forty-five percent would ask friends or neighbors about the playdate hosts, 44 percent would look at social media, 36 percent would check out the neighborhood, 30 percent would search a sex offender registry, 21 percent would look t the web and another 21 percent would talk to school staff.

Whether you stay at home or work full-time, being a mom is not something you ever get a real break from. It’s a 24-hour, seven day a week gig and mom of two Eva Mendes knows it’s no joke.

Mendes was a guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show where she opened up about just how hard being a mom actually is. “People are so sweet — they really try to warn you, prep you, when you’re pregnant, but nobody can prep you. Nobody.”

The actress is currently taking a break from her career to stay home with her two daughters, Amada Lee, three, and Esmeralda Amada, five, who she shares with Ryan Gosling. “Nobody told me it was gonna really be a job. And a job that I needed an incredible amount of skill for, in different areas,” she jokingly admitted to Clarkson rattling off some of the roles she’s taken on as a mom. “A chauffeur, a cook, a personal assistant to an abusive boss.”

Mendes also revealed the parenting style that she and Gosling take on with their kids. “We’re very controlling,” she said. “I think what the term is––we’re always laughing at these terms—I think we would be ‘bulldozing parents.’”

Charton shared on Instagram, “After 25 hours of laboring at home, we arrived at the hospital too late for any pain meds as I was already dilated and ready to push.” The new mom added, “If I ever do this again I want ALL THE DRUGS, all of them.”

Even though Charton continued, “I live in sexy surgical mesh underwear that’s keeping a world of pain in check, my boobs are engorged, I burst blood vessels In my face from pushing, my big pregnant belly that I loved so much deflated to a mere paunch,” she admits that it’s all worth it, also writing, “I’ve never been more in love and we’ve never felt more complete.”

Dads are so embarrassing, even when your parent is a famous celeb. Alex Rodriguez recently admitted that he has a social media contract with his daughters—banning him from posting about or following them!

During a recent episode of Barstool Sports’ Chicks in the Office podcast, Rodriguez revealed his secret way of checking up on daughters Natasha and Ellas’s Instagram accounts.

A-Rod told podcast hosts Ria Ciuffo and Francesca Mariano, “My daughters don’t let me follow them on social media. It’s awful.” To work around the IG shut-out, Rodriguez, like plenty of other parents, has a “dad burner account.” But now that the dad has publicly dished about his faux IG account, we’re guessing his daughters will catch on.

Not only is A-Rod banned from following his daughters on IG, but the 14 and 11-year-olds have some pretty strong words for their dad about his own social media use. Rodriguez said, “Oh my gosh, they are like the COO and the CEO of my social media craziness, whatever I do.”

He continued, “They’re so good. Every time I post something, usually like, five out of 10, both of them would DM and say, ‘Dad, are you serious? Dad, you know I’m going into high school this year. Dad, this is how bullying starts.’”

From the newborn days to toddlerhood, there is one thing that remains constant in the ever-changing landscape of parenthood: diaper changes are no fun. Parents have come up with some unique ways to avoid changing diapers according to a new survey.

The survey of 1,000 American parents conducted by baby product company Munchkin showed that one third of parents said they had faked taking a nap in order to avoid the dreaded diaper change and one in four parents had faked an errand to get out of diaper duty.

All those diaper changes at home are exhausting enough, but the real stink stress hits when the inevitable blow out happens when you’re out and about. According to the Munchkin survey, 94 percent of parents have been forced to change a diaper in the car, two out of three parents admitted to changing babies in a store dressing room and 14 percent have even changed a diaper in their stadium seat at a sports game.

Changing diapers on the go can sometimes get a little messy and 44 percent of parents said they have resorted to using a power washer to get smells out of car seats and strollers.

Munchkin has come up with solution to the problem of on-the-go stink with a brand new product, Toss Disposable Diaper Pails. The Toss is designed to trap the stink for easy transportation until you can reach a suitable place to throw away those stinky diapers. “Diaper changes happen outside the nursery more than ever, and parents need a reliable disposal option that has their back whether they’re around the house or on-the-go,” said Steven Dunn, Munchkin CEO and Founder. “Toss not only keeps smells at bay, but is also a practical, portable solution for the stinky and unpredictable situations that come up throughout the baby care journey.”

The new Toss Disposable Diaper Pail is now available at retailers nationwide including Target and Amazon.

In another post Dushku explained the meaning behind their son’s middle name. The actress and her husband recently moved back to her hometown, Boston, after two decades in Los Angeles. Wanting to pay homage to her roots and family, Dushku wrote that Philip’s grandpas are laid to rest in the Bourne, Massachusetts National Military Cemetery. “Crossing the Bourne Bridge always signaled family, sunshine, love and summer,” she shared.

On a side note, the actress admitted that becoming a mom has already changed her. “My emoji game has increased exponentially since this ball of (love) burts into this world & now they just shoot out of my child-loving heart,” Dushku hilarious explained of her emoji-filled posts.

In spite of all your planning, there’s one thing that can ruin a family vacation in a hurry: losing or leaving behind a favorite stuffed animal. Vrbo has come to the teddy bear rescue with the new Vrbo Teddy Bear Service.

Thanks to Vrbo’s new teddy bear hotline all you have to do is call 1-774-VRBOTDY or email TeddyBearHotline@vrbo.com to report a lost teddy or other item of sentimental value. A survey conducted by Ipsos for Vrbo revealed that 55 percent of those surveyed said stuffed animals were the most important things kids brought with them on vacation and 69 percent said their child has left a toy or stuffed animal behind while away from home. Parents also admitted to the lengths they would go to replace that lost toy. Nearly half (48 percent) said they would buy a duplicate toy and pretend it was the original.

Luckily now parents won’t have to go such great lengths if they’ve booked a stay at a vacation home with Vrbo. “We know how easily teddies can get left behind under beds, in canoes, or in a vacation home’s best hide-and-seek spot,” said Melanie Fish, Vrbo travel expert. “Our goal is to make sure every teddy finds its way back home and to help kids and their families keep happy vacation memories fully intact.”

It doesn’t take a Prime Day special to get most of us on Amazon and shopping—especially Emily McGuire. And, based on the birthday cake he chose for her, McGuire’s husband knows it!

The avid Amazon shopper clearly adores the online marketplace. The mom to three and photographer admitted to Cafe Mom, that she orders twice to three times a week. With all the boxes arriving on her doorstep, her sweet S.O. ordered a custom Amazon box-shaped cake for McGuire’s bday.

Not only did the cake’s shape take on the brown cardboard box form, but it also included a USPS label (adorably labeled to McGuire at 123 Birthday Lane) and the signature Amazon Prime packing tape.

McGuire recently posted pics of the cake on her business’ Facebook page, writing, “When you order a lot from Amazon..you get an Amazon box cake.” Judging by the photos, we can certainly say this Amazon box takes the cake!

Jeopardy James Holzhauer is giving the decades’ old game show a kick. As of May 3 the professional sports gambler from Las Vegas (of course) has won 22 games in a row, totaling over $1.691 million. So how does he do it? Holzhauer’s little helper might surprise you.

Only second to information icon Ken Jennings, Holzhauer is well on his way to take taking top honors. But unlike some of the more scholarly contestants, the 34-year-old husband and father doesn’t have a PhD-level pedigree. Recently, the quiz show phenom revealed his key to success—children’s books!

During an interview with The Washington Post, Holzhauer admitted, “You may be able to read an adult book about a boring subject without falling asleep, but I can’t. For me, it was either read some children’s books — designed to engage the reader — or go into “Jeopardy!” with giant gaps in my knowledge base.”

If you’re looking to step into Holzhauer’s shoes, the Jeopardy giant recommends, “The Classics Illustrated series was an excellent primer in literature, and I also really enjoyed Zachary Hamby’s mythology books for teens.” But if you just want to check out some of Holzhauer’s faves, the sports gambler/Jeopardy mega-winner told Publishers Weekly that the top picks from his own childhood include Green Eggs and HamThe Little Engine That Could and Peter Rabbit!
