Traditional Irish Potato Boxty

Grits & Pinecones

The perfect recipe for St. Patrick's Day breakfast, Grits & Pinecones Irish Potato Boxty will become a family fave. The savory breakfast is made from a combo of mashed potatoes, raw grated potatoes, eggs, milk, flour and baking powder and enjoyed piping hot. Don't forget the green onions! Get the recipe here.

Dublin Coddle

Bound by Food

Though not a St. Patrick's Day-specific recipe, Dublin Coddle is still a tasty way to celebrate the day. The one-pot dish involves sausage, potatoes and onions and is a hearty meal for the entire fam. Get the recipe here.

Irish Lemon Pudding

Meg's Everyday Indulgence

A twist on what we Americans normally think of as pudding, Irish Lemon Pudding is a bit more like cake and baked custard––but no less delicious. Made with ingredients you probably have on hand, this citrus-flavored dessert is the perfect way to top off your St. Patrick's Day feast. Get the receipe here.

Colcannon

Eating Richly

There's no need to skip the potatoes this St. Patrick's Day! Colcannon is an Irish mashed potato recipe that involves cooked cabbage and onion and is a great way to squeeze in some veggies while the kids aren't looking. Check out Eating Richly for an easy and tasty recipe.

Irish Soda Bread

St. Patrick’s Day wouldn’t be quite the same without Irish Soda Bread, and lucky for you, blogger Alexandra Hedin makes hers in the form of a super yummy scone. Serve one to your little leprechaun for breakfast, or do a batch up proper for an after-school tea party. Either way, these will be a favorite with your whole crew. Get the recipe here.

Hearty Irish Stew

Lori Lange via The Recipe Girl

Chock-full of carrots, potatoes, and tender meat: You really can't go wrong with a good Irish stew. Super satisfying no matter the weather, Recipe Girl has an easy version you can re-create at home.

Slow Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Swampkitty via Flickr

When you think food on St. Patrick’s Day, you think corned beef and cabbage. This version is perfect for your busy life, because all you have to do is place the brisket in the slow cooker, top with the veggies and walk away. Bonus: this version swaps out carb-loaded potatoes for extra veggies! Here’s where you’ll find the ingredients.

Fine Fettle Flapjacks

Imen McDonnell via Farmette

In Ireland, flapjacks don’t come served with maple syrup and strawberries. Instead, they come in the form of a tasty, crunchy-yet-chewy oat bar. You can use any sort of oat or grain, from millet to chia seeds, and if you want to go dairy-free, opt for coconut oil instead of butter. We are drooling over the version Imen McDonnell features on her blog, Farmette, and in her Irish cookbook, The Farmette Cookbook.

Green Macaroni & Cheese

Weelicious

So, your picky eater won’t touch corned beef and cabbage with a four leaf clover. Well, whip up a batch of green mac ‘n’ cheese for a little St. Patrick’s Day cheer, instead. Filled with good stuff like spinach, peas and lots of cheese, when you serve up this dish, there’s still a chance to say Erin go Bragh! Get the recipe here.

So what did Teigen dish about? The model-mama opened up about what it’s like to raise her two kiddos, Luna and Miles, as an in-the-spotlight celebrity. When one fan asked, “What is the best perk of being a celebrity?” Teigen responded:

If you’re wondering how Teigen starts her days, when she was asked if she sets an alarm or someone wakes her “gently” she tweeted:

While Teigen has plenty of just-like-us issues to deal with, she also has those celeb-only parenting moments. When asked, “Do you ever have issues with people talking to Miles and Luna without your permission if they see y’all in public?” she said:

If you’re wondering what Teigen would do if she wasn’t a super-celeb, she said:

Like other celebrity parents, Teigen has to deal with the paparazzi following her kiddos. One fan asked how her fam deals with them and Teigen replied:

Move over Chip and Joanna, there’s another Gaines ready for the spotlight. The couple’s nine-year-old daughter Emmie recently created her own chocolate chip cookie recipe—and according to mama Joanna, the young chef’s tasty treats are her fave!

Half of the power home improvement/design/all-around media mogul power couple Joanna recently posted a pic of daughter Emmie on Instagram in the kitchen, rolling out her own shortbread cookies. Along with some help from younger bro Crew, it looks like the nine-year-old is the next Gaines on the road to fame.

Not one to act as a helicopter, Jo captioned the photo, “She was determined to make up her own cookie recipe and I left the kitchen so she could surprise me (and so i wouldn’t micromanage her work in the kitchen.”

The Magnolia mogul continued, “Let’s just say this was one of my favorite cookies I’ve ever tasted! It was like a perfect blend of a shortbread cookie and chocolate chip cookie topped with a yummy icing.”

Not only did Emmie create her own recipe, but she’s also a budding author. Joanna continued, “I also love what she named them in her little cookbook, “Emmie Kay’s chocolate chip kisses cookie.”

Even though Chrissy Teigen is a gorgeously famous SI swimsuit model, accomplished cookbook author and entrepreneur, she’s kind of like the rest of us mamas. Teigen recently tweeted about her recent purchase for daughter Luna’s preschool lunches—and it might sound familiar.

So your kiddo isn’t into gourmet cuisine? Their oddball preferences, such as jam on pickles or oatmeal with sweet and sour sauce, are just part of childhood. According to Teigen’s tweet, Luna’s no different.

The mom recently had to buy a bulk box of 2,000 ketchup packets for her daughter to dip cucumbers into. Teigen started the Twitter thread by writing, “I’ve been looking up good lunches to put in my kid’s bento lunch box and while everyone’s lunches look cute, my kid will never eat this sh** without me bribing, in person.”

If that sounds like your fam, then the rest of Teigen’s tweet is probably pretty relatable too, “Everyone’s stuffed olive tapenade pita cat faces can suck it. Say hello to pizza bagel.”

Of course Luna isn’t the only preschooler who is totally into her own food choices. One pre-k teacher replied, “I have a kid in my preschool class whose parents pack him a container of ketchup for dipping that he just drinks, as a lunch appetizer of sorts.”

If your kitchen skills aren’t exactly Top Chef-worthy, one Twitter user has a garlic peeling hack you need to know about—right now!

We’ve all been there. The recipe calls for minced garlic and you have whole cloves. You could smash the garlic and try to pull away the peels. Or you could try a fancy schmancy garlic press.

But if you’re looking for an easier option (and really who isn’t?) this stab, pull and peel hack is absolutely everything. After posting the hack last weekend, the Twitter video could plenty of attention.

Game changer” to, “Roast garlic and parsnip soup every day from now on,” some notable names got in on the garlic peeling applause action. 6 Fool-Proof Hacks to Get Your Kids to Actually Clean Up After Themselves

Do your mini chefs love helping out in the kitchen? It can be a lot fun to cook with your kids, but it’s not always easy to get them to follow the recipe. If you left things up to them, you’d end up with some very creative concoctions, much like the recipes in this cookbook written by preschoolers.

Twitter user Jordan Adams shared the finished pages from a cookbook created by his nephew Ethan’s pre-K class. While these dishes might not be entirely edible, Gordon Ramsey would definitely give them an apron for sheer out-of-the-box creativity.

One of the best examples is Ethan’s own recipe for “Eggs.” The ingredients include “pancakes, sugar and skittles.” No eggs, obviously, and all of the ingredients should be procured from a “Texas Roadhouse.” The prep time is one hour, but the cook time is listed a mere “two seconds.”

Now for the instructions, which read, “First you put pancakes and then sugar and that’s it. You can cook it, but you can go to my house and I will give you eggs because my mom makes eggs all the time. You can eat them with a spoon. Don’t put anything on them because that’s how you makes eggs, with nothing.”

Another recipe for pancakes includes just one solitary ingredient, “salt” and all you have to do is “get a thingy from the house and you put it in the hot thingy. Turn on the hot thingy and it burns so you have to be careful. You make like, something and put it in and it cooks.”

The internet’s favorite recipe by far, however, is Joe’s Tacos, which turns out to be a recipe for cheesy roll ups because as the directions explain, “First I don’t actually know, I really don’t remember anything. Can I change this to cheesy roll ups? Because they are super easy. There is only 3 stuff you need, white cheese, yellow cheese, and tortilla. I don’t even want to make tacos anymore. I don’t even know how. It is so hard think about tacos. But I can make cheesy roll ups. They are super easy. They come from Taco Bell.”

Delicious.
