Dress the kids in their very best and head to one of our favorite places for Santa photos, Seattle parents

It’s that time of year again, Seattle families. Time to dress the kids in their holiday best (be it a festive dress or plaid jacket) and head out in search of the cutest Seattle Santa pictures around. Here’s how to plan your annual holiday photo shoot at one of our favorite places to snag a Santa photo in Seattle, holiday wish list in hand. Say cheese!

1. Nordstrom Downtown Santa - Santa Lane

Your annual pilgrimage to see Santa at his ornate shop at the downtown Nordstrom is back on for 2022. That's right, after three years, Santa will once again return to the Downtown Nordstrom window on 6th and Pine to greet fans and take gift orders from kids of all ages. Photos will be printed on-site, and reservations are not available. 

Good to Know: If waiting in line downtown isn't your speed, kids can also see Santa over brunch at Nordstrom stores throughout Washington. Make reservations soon for this area favorite.

Insider Tip: Get there early in the season or on a weekday, if you can, to avoid the long lines (you know they'll be big this year).

2. Snowflake Lane Factory - Bellevue Square Santa 

There are more than a few ways to celebrate the holidays on the Eastside this year, and Bellevue Square Santa pictures are just the beginning. Schedule your sit down with the Big Guy at Snowflake Lane Factory on the second level. It's by appointment only, and you can count on Santa spending QT with the kids while checking his list. Plan your Santa appointment in the evening to enjoy the nightly parade and occasional snow showers that add a touch of magic to the season at Snowflake Lane. If you're able, stop by the Holiday Wishing Tree in center court to pick up a tag and support a local family in need.

3. Magnolia Santa Photos

Get out your grins because the 14th Annual Magnolia Santa photos are back. Families (including your fur babies) can book an appointment on the weekend or Thursdays to have a sit down with Santa. He'll take the time to figure out whether your kids are on the naughty or nice list before striking his jolliest pose. You can do a few different poses, so you can mix things up a bit here and when all is said and done, you'll get 10-20 images sent over in matter of days. Don't forget to stop at the Nutty Squirrel for gelatto when you're done! Masks are optional here.

4. Santa at the Space Needle

Jolly St. Nick returns to the Space Needle in his all-glass sleigh! Venture out onto the world's first and only revolving glass floor to meet Santa and the Needle’s professional photographers will snap your free digital photo for the ultimate holiday photo op. Here’s when Santa will be at the Space Needle.

5. Magic at the Market

If a chance to shop for great local products and snag a free Santa photo while you're at it is part of your holiday to-do list, head to Pike Place Market for some holiday Magic. Santa will be under the iconic Market clock taking pictures with visitors before he heads off to help light the tree. Then he'll be back on Dec. 3 and 4 with Crafty in tow (the magical snow monkey, of course) to take more pictures with his fans.

6. University Village

In his own cozy cabin near Room & Board, the University Village Santa is a Seattle favorite for a reason. Not only do families get to visit him in a private, cozy cabin that makes kids feel extra special, but parents can sneak off to do some covert holiday shopping while they're there. Schedule time to visit online and plan to arrive with about five minutes to spare before your appointment. While you’re there (and if you’re able) families can give a Winter Wish to a child in need. How? Just pull a tag from a Winter Wish tree. Then return your purchased, unwrapped gift to the house.

7. Swanson’s Nursery

Families can find St. Nick at a his cabin in the Cafe building at Swanson's this year. He’ll be waiting to meet your little elves and have a quick convo with your crew before snapping that holiday photo you came for. Families will need to schedule online before heading over. While you're there, enjoy watching the train make its rounds (this year's theme is a Child's Imagination) and check out the great light displays, including dinosaur Humphrey who looks great in photos.

8. Wing Luke Museum - C-ID Santa

Asian American Santa is back at the Wing Luke Museum for 2021! While he was safe at home last year, he's happy to make his way back to sit with children and put on his best smile. You'll need to schedule photos in advance and things will move quickly (time slots are 3 minutes long!) when you get there. Please remember to bring proof of vaccination for anyone over 12 (negative tests will not be accepted) and masks for anyone over the age of 2. Spots are filling up quickly, so grab yours soon!

9. Northwest African American Museum

Black Santa is back and will be safely chatting with kids on December 19 and 20 at the Northwest African American Museum. Reservations will be part of the safety protocols in place, so make yours as soon as information is available. While you're there, be sure to check out this holiday market too. Keep up the joyful tradition this year!

10. Kirkland Urban - Frostival

All those in favor of pictures with Santa in a snow globe raise your hand. Then head to Kirkland Urban on a Saturday afternoon to snap one starting the weekend after Thanksgiving. That’s when families will find Santa ready to take pictures with your best-dressed kiddos. Our favorite part? The lifesize Gingerbread Suite kids get to walk through to get to the Big Guy in Red.

11. Redmond Town Center

Your mask won’t hide your smile when your kids get to meet Santa at this favorite spot on the Eastside. You'll find this jolly old elf at Redmond Town Center where he sets up shop in the Center Street Plaza. There are five Santas to choose from this year, each with a belly that shakes like a bowl full of jelly and a twinkle in his eyes. So pick the Santa (and day) that works best for your family and make your reservation soon.

12. Holiday Magic Village at Pacific Place

Two Christmas icons will be waiting to greet your kids at this new-this-year interactive display at Pacific Place downtown. Jolly Old St. Nick will be there to greet kids with open arms and a joyful laugh. But so will reformed Christmas bad guy, the Grinch. Schedule your photo online with one of these icons for the perfect holiday remembrance. They take the picture, you find the frame.

13. Alderwood Mall

According to local parents, the Alderwood Mall Santa wins for "most authentic” and we couldn't agree more. They’ve had the same Santa here year after year, which is really convenient for taking those holiday photos as the kids get older (and wiser). And who can resist Santa's awesome and adorable outfits? Book time with this popular Santa online (recommended). They also have a pet night and sensory-friendly Santa experiences here.

14. Issaquah Reindeer Festival

If meeting Santa and seeing his reindeer sounds good to you, reserve your spot to do both at the annual Issaquah Reindeer Festival at Cougar Mountain Zoo. Picture this: Santa sitting atop his festive sleigh while your cute kiddos, dressed in their holiday best, perfect that winning smile. Sounds like a holiday card in the making to us. Be sure to visit with the other animals while you're there too. Although the Reindeer Festival goes through the end of December, Santa will only be there for photos through December 23.

Good to Know: You can still visit with Santa's reindeer at the zoo from Dec. 26-30, 2022.

15. A Victorian Country Christmas

Santa isn't the only thing you'll see when you head south to the Victorian Country Christmas at the state fair grounds. In fact, you and the kids can enjoy more than 500 exhibits decorated to look like Victorian shops with thousands of unique holiday gifts, handcrafted items and great specialty foods items. Professional entertainment is featured on two stages, and kids will flock to Santa’s Village. Why? Because it's where they can have their photos taken with Mr. Claus and send wishes in the Magical Mailbox.

16. More Mall Santas 

Arthur & Associates, the local photographers behind santaphotos.com are working hard to make Santa photos safe this year. In addition to spots listed above, you can find them at the Commons at Federal Way, Lake Forest Park Town Center, Renton Landing and the Everett Mall. The best part? You can check out photos and schedules of all of the Santas online. Just like online dating, but better! So if you really like the look of Santa Bob, you can book accordingly. And here’s a special note for nostalgic natives: the original Frederick & Nelson Santa displays can be found at Town Center at Lake Forest Park, so if you were one of those kids who had a series of F&N photos lined up at Grandma’s house, here’s your shot at keeping that holiday tradition alive.

17. Special Santa Experiences

Kids can also climb aboard a vintage train car to visit with Old St. Nick. It's a clickety-clack excursion they won't soon forget. Book your ticket on the Yuletide Express that departs weekends from Snoqualmie. It’s an abbreviated train ride (just 25 minutes), but kids will get to see Santa and receive a little gift too. It's ho ho ho awesome. For a real adventure, we're talking overnight, put Leavenworth on your winter travel list.  can’t go wrong visiting Santa at the Leavenworth Reindeer Farm, where kids can meet his friendly reindeer (and feed them by hand, too!). Reserve your Farm Tour with a side of Santa starting in December to get that picture.

Your Next Weekend Trip: Solvang with Kids

Head to Solvang, CA and have one of the best weekends with your family experiencing all things Denmark without leaving the country

Solvang (aka the “Danish Capital of America”) has a lot more going for it than windmills and waitresses in dirndls. While the town has lots of fun kitschy charm worth checking out, there are also plenty of modern, swoon-worthy restaurants, boutique hotels, tucked-away tasting rooms, along with hidden gems the kids will love uncovering. Whether you head up to Solvang for a day trip from LA or have the opportunity to spend a day or two (or more), Solvang is a must stop for any family looking for off-the-beaten-path fun.

Things to Do in Solvang, CA with the Family

Hans Christian Andersen Park

The entrance to the park is through a fairy tale-esque “castle” archway but most notably, HCA Park has tons of great features like a nice walking trail that begins near the park’s entrance to the right (about where the Vinland Hotel is located—in fact, some of the Vinland’s rooms overlook the park). HCA Park has a newer, modern playground structure which is often way less populated than Sunny Fields Park, an awesome skate park, free municipal tennis courts that were recently resurfaced, and brand new pickleball courts. There are also secluded wooded picnic BBQ areas and loads of nature areas to explore.

Good to Know: Like all nature spots around California, mountain lions and bobcats are known to frequent the park, so it’s best to stay alert—and of course, also beware of rattlers (in season) and poison oak (always!).

Solvang Trolley & Carriage Tours

Hop aboard this old-fashioned streetcar (but modernized thanks to its new electric motor) for a 25-minute tour of the town's most popular landmarks. Along the way, your guide (dressed in traditional Danish garb) will regale you with fun facts and local lore. We don't want to give too much away, but be prepared to discover the town's one authentic thatched roof and the meaning behind those wooden storks perched atop many of the local buildings.

Sunny Fields Park

Just outside of town you'll find this Danish-inspired playground complete with a Viking ship, windmill, and mini gingerbread house. Of course, there are also the requisite swings, slides, and climbing structures that kids love. Added bonus? Bathrooms are typically very clean just in case your little one needs a potty break on the way in or out of town.

Dana V. Wines Tasting Room

The best things to do with kids in Solvang, CA

There are loads of places to taste wine in town but this is the only one we found with outdoor games for the kids to play. While this tasting room opened in 2018, Dana Volk, the owner and winemaker behind the label, has been in the industry since 1996. Part of the growing movement of women winemakers (the number of women winemakers is particularly high in the Santa Barbara county region), Dana proves that you can marry your passion with your lifestyle (aka kids and family). Dana V. Wines is the direct (and delicious) result of that effort.

The Best Places to Shop in Solvang, CA

Onederchild

Owned by local dads, this adorable boutique offers unique toys, books, and gifts for babies and kids, along with gently (as in barely) worn clothes on consignment. Tucked inside one of Solvang’s most famous windmills, it's an under-the-radar local favorite featuring finds that are both whimsical, well-made, and socially conscious (like one of our fave discoveries the Women's March Puzzle). Just a warning: You won't be able to leave empty-handed.

Hanson's Clock Shop

Kids will go cuckoo for this shop featuring cuckoo clocks galore. There are traditional, hand-carved wooded clocks with elaborate scenes, along with cute, tail-wagging cat clocks. If you can't manage to time your visit on the hour (who can blame you?), not to worry. Friendly shop workers can manually adjust the clocks to chime for kids.

Hans Christian Andersen Museum & The Book Loft

The tiny museum is a hidden gem, and is located upstairs in the independently-run bookstore. It's an intimate space that details the life and the legacy of Denmark's most famous author (The Ugly Duckling, The Princess and the Pea and The Little Mermaid to name a few) with knick-knacks and childhood home replicas—even your littlest ones will be delighted by all the exhibition pieces. Once you're finished with the museum portion, spend some time exploring all the wonderful used and antique books on the same floor.

The Copenhagen House

For anyone with a love of housewares, home decor, and gifts, this store is a must-stop for the best in Danish design (so beautiful and functional). Kids can get in on the retail action by checking out the clever toys. Not only do they claim the largest selection of Hoptimist in the US, but there are some LEGO sets here and the cutest stuffed animals that might have you lifting any purchase bans of soft loveys. And don't miss the adorable wall of clogs made in teeny-tiny kids' sizes.

Don't miss out on the superfood lattes. The turmeric was a cup of cozy with a snappy finish thanks to the ginger and cinnamon. Definitely worth the stop and be prepared to linger—the cool Nordic vibes coupled with the local staff’s warmth make it hard to leave.

The Landsby

For contemporary Danish style, a stay at The Landsby is a must. Festivals, Fairs & Events & Other Can’t-Miss Stops in Solvang

No Solvang trip would be complete without a stop at this big bird mecca. Totally kitschy and kinda strange (birds are the descendants of dinosaurs after all), this roadside staple is everything you need and expect it to be. Little kids will probably need help holding the food and heed the warnings that the birds can bite.

With its mild weather, relatively affordable hotel rates, and minimal crowds (shhh... don't let word get out), there is really never a bad time of year to visit Solvang. That said, if you're looking for something a little "extra," here are four yearly events worth checking out:

Danish Days: Traditionally the third weekend in September, this 3-day celebration of all things Danish includes a Viking encampment (with reenactments!), live music and folk dancing, an artisan marketplace, a parade, and more.

Solvang Farmer Pumpkin Patch: This event occurs Sept.-Oct. and features a corn maze, pumpkin patch, and fresh-made kettle corn. 

Scarecrow Fest: From Oct. 1-31, more than 100 scarecrows will populate the Santa Ynez Valley. Can you find them all?

Solvang Julefest: For more than a month each holiday season (Nov. 26, 2022-Jan. 6, 2023), Solvang turns into one of the most "Christmas-y" towns in America.

New baby = new ways to celebrate! Make the holidays even more magical with special holiday traditions you’ll look forward to each year. Try these fun, festive ideas to make this season with your little one as merry and bright as can be.

1. Rock some family Christmas jammies.
Fact: It’s not Christmas until the whole family has donned matching pajamas and snapped silly photos for posterity (or to post on Insta). If you’ve never taken a ride on the matching jammies bandwagon, now that you have a baby, this is your moment. Check out our favorite family jammies.

2. Turn on a holiday film.
Make it a family tradition to cozy up for the same Christmas movies every year. Your childhood favorites, like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman, are sure to be a hit, but don't hesitate to turn on older classics like It's a Wonderful Life or White Christmas. There's no such thing as "too young" when it comes to Christmas movies.

3. Make (or buy) an advent calendar.
Bring baby in on the fun of a holiday countdown with a chocolate-free, baby-friendly version. Or wrap a Christmas-themed book to open and read each night from December 1 to Christmas. To keep costs and clutter down, borrow them from the library and return them. You can then purchase any that become family favorites and build your collection for next year.

4. Take a Christmas lights tour.
Whether you stroll through a particularly festive neighborhood, cruise down a drive-through display, or visit a holiday-themed event at a local botanical garden, kids of all ages love watching the twinkling lights. And you'll love watching the wonder in your baby's eyes as they take in all the sparkly magic.

5. Decorate a gingerbread house.
To minimize mess and maximize fun, keep decorating simple with white frosting and sprinkles. Assemble the house first; then let baby explore the textures (and taste!) of the frosting and develop fine motor skills by adding the colorful candies.

6. Start an ornament collection.
For year one, choose a keepsake ornament personalized with baby’s name and birthdate. In the following years, select an ornament that reflects your little one’s interests for that year. Then, when your child is all grown up and ready to start Christmas traditions of their own (we know; they're never going to leave you, but just in case…), you can send them off with a collection of ornaments that will bring back fond childhood memories.

7. Turn up the holiday tunes.
It's no secret that babies love music and that Christmas music > any other kind of music. Creating a music playlist of holiday tunes will keep baby happy all season long…through those long treks to Grandma's house or navigating the mall parking lot. 8. Read Christmas stories.

9. Attend a community Christmas event, in person or virtually.
Coming together with the people in your community, old and young, to share good cheer is one of the best parts of the season. 10. Design a holiday photo card.
With a baby on the scene, it's time for a personalized photo card. Dress up your child in a Santa hat or their holiday best, snap a few photos, and then share the beautiful results with friends and family. Or, go all out and do a professional family photo shoot. 11. Visit a Christmas tree farm.
Selecting your tree from a Christmas tree farm can be a magical experience for the whole family, and the smell of a real tree can't be beat. Your child won't remember that first experience but will enjoy looking back at photos from years past. If you don't have a tree farm nearby, make the tree-buying a family event to give it more holiday spirit.

12. Take a trip to see Santa.
This tradition has an expiration date—maybe at ten years old if your child has an active imagination (or a good sense of humor). So don't let the holidays pass you by without planning baby's first visit with the big guy himself. Even if your child goes into total meltdown mode, the first meeting with St. Nick is guaranteed to be an iconic moment. (Just google "Santa's lap photos" for evidence.)

13. Donate a gift to children in need.
If you have the means, donate a toy or warm clothing to holiday drives in your area. As your child gets older, include them in the process of selecting and donating to other kids to teach the true spirit of Christmas: caring and sharing with others.

14. Create photo books as gifts.
Take your baby's most precious memories from the year and capture them in a photo book from Tinybeans for family and friends to enjoy. it can make the perfect gift!

Many Seattle-area neighborhoods go all out for the holidays, but there’s none more adorably decorated than the row of 1920s-era Tudors lining Candy Cane Lane. With lights, music and moving objects, this sweet neighborhood has been a Seattle holiday institution for more than six decades. Set Your GPS

A Seattle institution since 1949, Candy Cane Lane is otherwise known as N.E. Park Rd., just off the main drag of Ravenna Blvd. at the cross street of 21st Ave. N.E., just north of University Village. It's actually a curved row of 23 adorably decorated houses so sweet they look like you could have plucked them right off a gingerbread house display.

Expect to See

Sleighs, reindeer, blow-up candy canes, mechanical decorations ‘round the traffic circle and traffic back-ups. Decorations usually share a theme (past events have centered on holiday classics such as the Nutcracker), and now there’s a multi-cultural approach with the charming "peace" ornamentation. In years past a real, live Santa has been known to make surprise appearances, passing out candy canes, of course.

Where to Eat

The mecca of University Village offers plenty of options, and it’s just five minutes away from Candy Cane Lane, so make an evening of it and head to the kid-friendly Veggie Grill or Delfino’s Chicago Style Pizza for a quick bite, followed by treats at Trophy Cupcakes & Party, Molly Moon's Ice Cream or The Confectionary. Maybe take care of a ‘lil holiday shopping while you’re at it? Also nearby: Kidd Valley Burgers (can you say, milkshakes?), and if all else fails, there’s a drive-thru McDonald’s on 25th.

Where to Park

Technically, you don’t need to park at all. Candy Cane Lane in Seattle is a drive-by thing, with cars idling and inching along slowly as passengers snap pictures through fogged-up windows. But if you want to fully experience the music, lights, and mechanical decorations (like the rain and the wind), park on a side street, bundle up and get out of the car. Ravenna Park, just a half block away, has about a dozen parking spots, or you can snag parking on a nearby side street. 

Insider tip: Buy the kiddies a cup of hot cocoa across the street at Seven Market & Cafe to make your evening stroll even more enjoyable.

When to Go

The Christmas Ship and Parade of Boats is always a fun addition to this outing. Check the 2022 schedule and find out when the ship parade will stop by Matthews Beach, Magnuson Park, or Madison Park, all within a few miles of Candy Cane Lane Seattle. Or go after a movie; or when the relatives come into town; or any rainy evening when the kids are acting up and need to be reminded of who’s on the lookout for those who have been naughty and who has been oh-so-nice.

Insider tip: The word on the lane is not to go before December 10. The neighbor elves are busy setting up everything for you in the meantime.

Dates: The houses are usually ready to go in mid-December. Wander through between dusk and around 10 p.m. until the New Year.

Cost: Free, however, a canned food drive donation station usually sits at the end of the route and viewers can also leave donations at the nearby Seven Market & Cafe.

From the rainy streets of Seattle to the Blackland prairies in Texas, everyone seems to get in on the act. Highland Park is all dressed up from Nov. 26 through Dec. 30, with a big "Christmas Lights and Shopping Stroll" at Highland Park Village from 4-7 on Dec 8. Other great views can be found near Mockingbird, along Armstrong & Preston, where giant pecan trees glitter with lights and old historic homes are decked out with professional quality light shows. The best part? This neighborhood has taken a back seat to the more popular Interlochen in Arlington—which means way fewer crowds and tons of snap-worthy spots. There are several carriage services to choose from, be sure to BYOC (that’s hot chocolate to you) and don’t forget carrots for that pony up in the front.

 

Happyland Christmas - Raleigh, NC

For almost 20 years the Moore family has been putting up quite a show at their home in Raleigh, NC (5504 Huntingwood Dr.). Bobby Moore says that the lights are put up in the memory of his nephew Rick, who passed away in 2004. "In his short life, he always wanted us to put up "more lights," Mr. Moore says on his Facebook page. Their home was even chosen for ABC's Great Christmas Light Fight.

The whole block between High and Fernside on Thompson Avenue in Alameda is home to Christmas Tree Lane, which is one of the most festive spots in all of the Bay Area. You'll find friendly folks out for viewing parties, beautiful lights, and even a tap-dancing tree or two (We swear!). The lights will be on Sat. Dec. 4 through New Year's Day. Santa will not be there this year, due to caution and social distancing. Everyone is asked to wear a mask. Check out their Facebook page for the most up-to-date info!

The Lights of Christmas - Stanwood, WA

More than one million Christmas lights will be displayed over 15 acres at Warm Beach Camp in Stanwood, WA (20800 Marine Dr.) The Lights of Christmas Festival is the largest holiday light display in the Pacific Northwest and this year, it's a drive-thru experience! Also, reservations can be made for overnight accommodations in holiday-themed lodges and for Dinner Theatre and Sunday Dessert Matinee. The lights will be on from 5-10 p.m. from Nov. 26-28, Dec 1-5, 8-12, 15-23, 26-30, Jan 2-8 2022. Tickets range from $25-30.

Peacock Lane has been a Portland tradition since the 1920s, and every home in the community has been decorating since 1932. Located between SE Stark Street and Belmont Street & one block East of Cesar Chavez/SE 39th, this row of beautiful Tudor-style homes shine from Dec. 15-31 from 6-11 p.m. Not only will you find beautiful sparkling lights, but also nativity scenes, rotating Christmas trees and stunningly life-like replicas of Santa and Frosty. Since this is pretty popular, Dec. 15-17 have been designated “pedestrian only” nights.

When thinking about how to describe the holiday light displays in the southwest Brooklyn neighborhood of Dyker Heights, “totally” and “awesome” hit the nail on the head. Residents are always engaged in a friendly competition to out-dazzle each other, so homes here are decked out with two-story-high toy soldiers and Santas, mannequins enacting holiday scenes, armies of oversized inflatables and yes, lights. Lots and lots of lights. Book a tour with a local Brooklynite or brave the crowds on your own. The best streets to stroll include 83rd through 86th Sts. and 11-13th Aves.

Located in Tierrasanta at 5306 Belardo Dr., this one-house masterpiece is truly a must-see beginning on November 30, 2019. Belardo Lights started in 2006 as a way for the Schimka family to give their two autistic sons, Brandon and Stephen, their very own light show for the holidays. This labor of love has more than 100,000 lights, is a heartwarming tradition for many families and continues to be an anxiously anticipated event each holiday season. In 2018, they were able to raise $13,000 in donations to help support the Stein Education Center. Turn your car radio to 106.1 FM to hear the holiday music played in sync with the lights. The lights start on November 27 for the 2021 season.

Historic Brookhaven - Atlanta, GA

Home to several impressive displays, this historic Atlanta neighborhood deserves a look. A local favorite at the corner of Winall and Peachtree Dunwoody (located at 901 Winall Down Road) shines the brightest. Using hundreds of light-up inflatables, this spot is totally worth any potential late-night meltdowns from little passengers. Admission to the wow-worthy display is free, but for a cause; visitors can purchase baked goods or make a donation to benefit The Genesis Shelter, a women’s shelter.

Trip the lights fantastic with an impressive tour of the Winter Lights Festival in Seneca Creek State Park at 11950 Clopper Rd. (Gaithersburg, Md), where more than 450 illuminated displays and trees might the night time bright. Drive through a 3.5 mile Winter Wonderland, have tea in Teddy Bear Land, hit up the North Pole and watch the penguins slide, all from the cozy comfort of your own ride. In its second year, Williamson County's only drive-thru light display has some new additions in 2021, including over 200 displays that can be seen at the Christmas and Holiday Lights Spectacular. Families can relax in the comfort of their cars as they wind their way through a mile of displays (while listening to Christmas classics on the radio!). Plus, look for Lee Company's Santa Village, where you can get your photo with Santa and enjoy hot drinks and cookies; kids can experience a camel ride, visit the petting zoo, take in some holiday activities and hop on the Ferris wheel and carousel! Located at Williamson County Ag Expo Center at 4215 Long Lane, viewings will be available nightly Nov. 25-Dec. 26, 2021, from 5-9 p.m. The $25-per-car ticket goes to support inner-city youth through Franktown Open Hearts. Christmas in the Park - Lee's Summit, MO

This year marks the 32nd annual Christmas in the Park, a favorite yuletide attraction for many families and with good reason. Held at the Frank White Jr., Softball Complex (3901 SW Longview Rd.), this event boasts over 500,000 lights and 175 animated displays. Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted and will go toward 35 local charities, so it’s a win-win for everyone! Christmas in the Park runs from Nov. 24 – Dec. 31, 2021. Hours are 5:30-10 p.m. Sun.-Thur. and 5:30-11 p.m. Fri.-Sat.

Legendary Lights - Clifton, OH

Featured in both Midwest Living and Ohio Magazine, the Clifton Mill Legendary Lights has been known as one of the country’s best light displays for 32 years. Located at 75 Water St., over 3.5 million lights illuminate the mill, gorge, riverbanks, trees and bridges. There's even a 100-foot “waterfall” of twinkling lights! Don’t miss the miniature village, the Santa Claus Museum, the large toy collection and a spectacular synchronized lights and music show that features the old Covered Bridge. The lights come on every night at 6 p.m. and shut down at 9 p.m. (except for Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Eve in which they close at 8:00 p.m.) from Nov. 26 – Dec. 30, 2021. Tickets are $10 a person, and kids age 3 and under get in free.

Every year, families revel in the annual Illuminations Tour by way of a trolley car in Sommerville. Each house adds its artistic spin on the decorations—you’ll catch a glimpse of an animatronic elf or two. The 45-minute trolley tour leaves from the Somerville High School Field House, where you’ll find hot coffee, hot chocolate and cookies, not to mention craft activities for the kids. This year’s tour will take place on Dec. 9- Jan. 1st, with trollies leaving at 4:30, 5:00, 5:45, 6:15, 7:00, 7:30, 8:15, 8:45. 9:15. As a fundraiser for the Arts Council, tickets to the event are $15/adults and $8/kids age 12 & under, as well as seniors age 65+.
