The classic snack and the beloved hot sauce brand are now one! Even though you may know Frank’s RedHot as the condiment you slather over chicken wings or dip everything from celery sticks to bread sticks in, the vinegar-y, cayenne-spiked sauce is now amping up the already unforgettable flavor of the fish-shaped crackers.
Janda Lukin, Chief Marketing Officer, Campbell Snacks, said in a press release, “We learned that adults are big fans of Goldfish and it’s an appetite we’ve never fully satisfied.” Lukin continued, “‘Hot’ is the #1 most requested Goldfish flavor across social, so we wanted to bring the heat with an unexpected partnership between Goldfish and Frank’s that fans will love.”
Jill Pratt, Chief Marketing Excellence Officer, for McCormick, added, “At Frank’s we are always looking for new ways for our fans to enjoy our hot sauce. This limited-edition Goldfish flavor brings a spicy bite to a nostalgic everyday snack. We hope that consumers enjoy this partnership between our two iconic brands for a fun experience that is sure to wake up your taste buds.”
Goldfish Frank’s RedHot crackers are available for a limited time starting this May! Look for the spicy snacks at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $2.49 per 6.6 ounce bag.
I’ve resolved to get organized and develop better habits for 2019. I woke at 5 a.m., according to my new regimen, where I can catch a little “me time” and plan my day.
My son—who normally wakes at 7:30 a.m.—has started to jump on the “early riser” bandwagon. Upstairs I go to get him at 5:30. I try, hopelessly to put him back to sleep. Defeat? No. I will just set him up for breakfast and I’ll tune him out for a moment while I start planning.
Okay. Grocery store. A little miscellaneous shopping, perhaps for a blind for the kitchen—man the one we have is driving me nuts.
Here comes kid number two. Wait for it. Yes. there’s the complaint about the food selection in the cupboards. No Goldfish? No cookies? If I had a nickel for every time they said that, I’d be rich. Maybe if they want Goldfish for their lunches everyday, they wouldn’t put half the dang bag in their lunch on the first day of the week.
Grocery. How many times have I been to the grocery this week? Saturday for a quick run. Sunday for a school shop. It’s now Wednesday. But I did send my husband last night as well. This is out of control!
Oh dear. My son is making quite a mess with his cereal. Okay, he dumped it all out. Where did all my tea towels go? Okay. I’m going to pick some up today. And also a list so I stop forgetting what to get while I’m at the store.
Kids are fine. They ate something. They packed their lunches and are off to school. Now I’ll load my son in the car and run errands.
Dang I really should have written a list. Dollar store. Grocery store. Got it. As I pull up to the dollar store, I realize my son’s diaper is full. Where is the stash I usually keep in the car? Oh dear. Guess I’m going to have to make this a quick run.
I reach the dollar store and I manage to pick up a list. I browse a little more. What else did I need here? Tin foil! Got it.
Off to the grocery. Cheese. Fruit. Goldfish. Pancake mix. Check, check, check. Son is still okay in his diaper. Let’s get home before this becomes a problem.
I pull in the driveway and see a note on the door. It’s Purolator. I’ve forgotten I was to accept a package today. It’s a temperature sensitive delivery. Oh great. I change my son’s diaper and get in the car with the delivery notice. I wonder if the delivery person has dropped our package off at the main office yet. Dang, I really should have checked the pickup time before I left.
I arrive. The delivery person hasn’t delivered the package to the main office yet. Oh well. At least I got to talk to a real person and not an answering service.
I pull in the driveway, again. This time my husband is waiting for me. “Did you forget we needed to switch cars this afternoon?”
“No,” I reply as the memory of this previous conversation rushes to my mind. I don’t usually lie but I needed to recoup some dignity from my forgetfulness.
I bring in the groceries and my extra bags. Ah, the tea towels. Where’d I put that list?

“I totally failed today,” I said through tears to my husband. “I felt like I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. The house is a mess. We hardly did any homework. Why is there always a huge pile of crap on the stairs that noone brings up? I need a maid just for folding laundry. What kind of mystical people actually get to the steps of folding it and putting away? Where do they live? We need disposable clothes for the children and disposable underwear for you too, while we’re at it! Why do I clean when y’all still live here? What is the point? Tell me…WHAT IS THE POINT?!”
The struggle is real! There are some days where we can totally rock the multitasking super mom role and some days where even a chef, maid and magical fairies couldn’t help us keep our act together.
But you know what? That is okay! I promise you that there is not a single one of your yoga doing, Pinterest-worthy birthday party throwing, organic snack feeding, no dark circles under their eyes Mama’s that have it together all the time.
We all have days where we are so tired from being up all night with a sick kiddo or teething babies, that Netflix has to ask us, “Keep Watching?” Yes Netflix…thanks for checking and making me feel bad. We are still watching episode #25 of Boss Baby!
Every Mom has a day…or every day of the week that she lives in sweats and hides when someone rings her doorbell, lest someone she knows sees her looking like she hasn’t showered in three days. Maybe she hasn’t…don’t judge!
Each Mother around the world has days where they feel like they’ve blown it. We think that the one time we gave our kids goldfish instead of Annie’s naturally colored and flavored GMO-free bunny crackers is what’s gonna cause them to revolt against all healthy food and set the pattern for their dietary habits when they’re in their 30’s.
We are so hard on ourselves, Mama’s. We worry about what people will think of our mess, of our missteps, of our mistakes…but we all make them.
And you are a good Mom.
You adore your children, even if you haven’t gotten to bathe the third one in a few days and maybe febreezed his clothes as he went out the door.
You love that teething baby, even if you wish there was a dye free, all natural permanently numbing form of orajel for those long nights.
You clothe them every single day, to include multiple outfit changes…who do they think they are, celebrities? Who do you think is going to keep up with your five outfit changes a day, little Suzie?!
You keep them fed the best you can and you added a piece of fruit with that bag of goldfish, dang it! Dried fruit…okay it was raisins…chocolate covered ones but whatever.
The point is, sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying. Some days you have to just smile and survive. Some days you will gloriously thrive and others you will need every ounce of grace the good Lord gave you. Guess what your kids will remember?
They’ll remember that you loved them like there was no tomorrow, that you cuddled up next to them on that couch, after 2.5 hours of sleep and desperately tried to follow along with the ridiculous plot of Boss Baby. They’ll remember that when they cried in the middle of the night, because their tummy hurt or their toothies were coming in-you were right there or that you were the fun mommy who decided it was perfectly acceptable to wear their swim shorts all day…in public…because that was the last article of clothing in their drawer!
Give yourself a break Mom or hire a chef, maid and fairy so that you can take one for real!

Let me paint you a picture… Your friends decide its about time for a girls day out lunch. How fun! Of course, I am in! What a great idea! I will bring Samantha with a peanut butter sandwich and it will be awesome. Isn’t being a stay at home Mom the best?!
I get to the restaurant starving and ready to relax with my girlfriends…And then reality sits in. Samantha realizes she doesn’t fancy the high chair that has been provided for us. And you know what, she doesn’t want her sandwich, either. You know what Samantha wants? To run away from her Mother and spill water all over the table. Her plan for my girls lunch was very different than mine. In fact, I spent little time interacting with the girls and more time controlling tantrums and threatening (with love)! for her to behave at the exit.
Finally my amazing friend grabbed Sam from me and took her outside for a bit so I could have a bite and sulk in pity. We eventually left early. I now have a toddler and my life is over. No, just kidding (Kind of).
But, seriously, toddlers are not for the weak, dude. I remember sitting there with my newborn and looking at toddlers thinking, that looks so fun! I can’t wait for Samantha to play with me and talk to me and giggle. Now, don’t get me wrong. We giggle a whole lot in the Buhler household. But, no one tells you this whole Mom thing may be the hardest thing you have ever done in your whole life. In between Goodnight Moon (124th time) and food spills (almost daily) I have to remind myself that I am doing an awesome job and some days all you have to excel at is keeping them alive.
I also remember a time when I was newly married, getting a full and refreshing 8 hours of sleep and the only bum I had to wipe was my own. I would sit there and gander at Moms. “Oh, my kid will never have a paci longer than 6 months.” “My child will never talk back to me.” “I plan on making different Pinterest FHE packets for every week of the year.” “My toddler will never behave like that in public.” Yes, sadly Catherine does remember those days. …and I am here to admit it, apologize and eat some humble pie. Because as I sat there trying to talk sense into a 19 month old while prying her off the dirty Shanghai sidewalk from her meltdown, I closed my eyes, and said to myself, “You are THAT mother, and it is OKAY.”
I think we (Catherine included) have placed too much pressure on ourselves and eachother to be the BEST mother out there. “Look at my child, potty trained at 6 months. It only took 3 hours!” “What do you mean, you didn’t breastfeed for 12 months?” “I never let my children eat anything unless its organic, glutten-free, pesticide free, and is deliciously inedible.” Why do we do this to ourselves? Its exhausting. Okay, Catherine is exhausted. But thats besides the point. It is okay to give your child peanut butter and jelly for lunch every once in awhile. It is okay to let Elmo offer them a dose of education so you can take a quick shower. You don’t need to feel guilty. Because in the end, your child isn’t going to remember how many times you gave him broccoli or goldfish. He will remember the way you showed him love, the way you excelled at kisses and the encouragement you always provided.
I love being a Mom, I know I will look back on these days with fond memories. But, I also know I shouldn’t waste time with my Children worrying if I am doing everything the “right way.” What is the right way, anyways? I am almost positive (about 95.67%) that there is not one right way to raise them. Thank goodness!
A small update to that girls day lunch- Catherine rewarded herself with a Diet Coke when she got home. Samantha doesn’t even remember throwing herself on the ground screaming and hopefully all of the city has forgotten it, as well.
Hi, i'm Cat! We live in Orlando, Florida where my husband works for Mickey Mouse (no, really). We have two kids, Samantha (5) & Preston (2). It may seems a ways off, but summer is coming, and with that, time by the pool and at the beach. Which means now is the time to make sure your kid knows how to swim! Finding a place for swimming lessons for kids in NYC is not as easy as you might think. (Classes fill up fast around here!) That said, there are many options and pools around town offering both group and private swimming lessons for kids from qualified instructors. We’ve rounded up our favorites, from tried-and-true, to affordable, to brand new!
For a New Pool That's Always 90 Degrees: Goldfish Swim School
There's a new pool in town, and it's in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn. Goldfish Swim School's brand new, state-of-the-art pool will open on March 10. If your kid gets chilly in the water, never fear: this pool is kept at 90-degrees to ensure shiver-free swim lessons. (And parents can stay comfortable in the climate-controlled viewing area.) Weekly swim lessons are 30-minutes long and offered year-round with a low 4:1 maximum student-to-teacher-ratio to ensure that your child receives the most patience, supervision and guidance. Small group lessons are $140 month and are booked perpetually; you are auto-charged at the beginning of each month so you don't need to continually re-enrolling for sessions. Head to Goldfish's Swim Assessment to get a recommendation on what class your child should take, and signup using the handy Parent Portal. In addition to swimming lessons offered year round, Goldfish Swim School hold Family Swim, and they will also host your child's birthday party.
Penguin City Swim is one of the most relaxed businesses in this roundup, thanks to year-round rolling admission with monthly billing. If you’ve missed the sign-up deadline at a larger swim center, it’s worth getting in touch with Penguin City Swim. Owner Gordon Miles founded swim school Take Me To The Water, and then left to start Penguin City Swim to offer more specialized classes for both kids and adult. You'll find Penguin City Swim in four locations across the Upper East Side of Manhattan where classes are offered Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at various times. Private, semi-private, small group lessons are available, with 30-minute private lessons starting at $81 and small groups (1:4 ratio, starting at $55.) Penguin City Swim also has a 30-minute Water Babies/Aqua Tots class for $45. Unlike fancy “destination pools,” Penguin City Swim uses apartment complex pools—you can find descriptions of each on the company's site— and the flexibility factor is high: you can start and stop lessons at any time. The only catch: Maximum flexibility means fluctuating enrollment numbers, so Miles will only enroll students seven days in advance (to make sure he has space and an appropriate spot.

For a Cool Pool & Community: Marlene Meyerson JCC
JCC Manhattan
The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is a bit of an urban oasis. The gorgeous 14-story complex is equipped with an amazing pool of varying depths that's heated and clean as a whistle. The goal of the JCC's aquatic program is to create confident, safe, strong swimmers, which it does with an extensive range of skill-tiered group classes and private lessons for children from six months to 14 years old. There's also an adaptive aquatics program that offers special needs group learn-to-swimclasses, private lessons, and water-based therapy options. The JCC is known for creating a feeling of community, so perhaps it’s no surprise that its swim lessons take place over six-month semesters, which allows swimmers to really get to know not only their teacher, but also their fellow swim students.

More native New Yorkers have learned to swim at the Y than anywhere else. Convenience probably has a lot to do with it: With 24 locations spread throughout all five boroughs, it’s easy to find a nearby pool. Registration is open now, and lessons run for six to eight weeks and are organized according to skill and age, with students as young as six months and as old as 18. (Parent and baby classes happen here, too.) The potential downside to the Y?: Class size. At 10 to 12 kids, the classes are definitely are larger than many of the more expensive swim school offerings, but the price is very competitive. However, you can take private lessons at your local Y; inquire with your branch's aquatics director for info on pricing and availability.
Tip: A YMCA membership will shave 10% to 30% off your swimming class fee, and will give you an early edge when it comes to registration (members get early access), a big plus because classes do fill up fast.

For an Old Standby: Asphalt Green
Asphalt Green
The granddaddy of NYC swim programs, Asphalt Green’s warm water and Olympic-size pools, highly trained instructors, and performance-based curriculum make it a favorite of kids and parents. The curriculum was developed in partnership with world-renowned coach Milt Nelms, who has worked with Olympic gold medalists Ian Thorpe, Natalie Coughlin, Dana Vollmer, and Missy Franklin. Classes run once a week per session and are broken down by age group: 0-36 months, 3-5 years, 5-8 years, 9-14 years and 15-17 years. In each of these age categories, there are classes for beginner, advanced, and intermediate swimmers. Specialty classes include lessons for children with special needs and clinics on specific strokes. Asphalt Green is also home of one of the top competitive swim teams in the Northeast. Classes are offered every day, and private lessons are scheduled based on pool availability. You must pay up front for the full session.
Tip: Downtown families may want to look into Asphalt Green’s Battery Park City facility at 212 North End Avenue.
