‘Tis the season to get lost in a corn maze or two! These cool, sometimes creepy, life-sized puzzles are a spooktacular good time when these farm-fueled fun spots pops up all over the city. Little ghouls and goblins can try their luck at winding their way through corn mazes near San Diego that range from simple to ones that are downright corn-fusing. Rancho Bernardo Pumpkin Farm

This eight-foot-tall farm-fresh corn maze is perfect for little farmers as it only takes about ten minutes to wind through. You'll spot this maze planted between the sunflower field and the pumpkin patch. Have your littles grab a partner and work through this labyrinth that has a few dead-ends. When done, take a tractor-hay wagon ride, pick a pumpkin and meet furry friends at the petting zoo. You can even cut your own bouquet of sunflowers.

Frosty's Forest

This giant, four-acre corn maze is good for older kids, as there are plenty of dead ends among the twisting, winding trails. Only one trial and good decision-making will lead you out of the maze. This year's corn maze theme is Hocus Pocus!

Afterward, celebrate your maze achievements with pumpkin picking, target paintball shooting, a sunflower labyrinth, carnival games, and more.

Stone Mountain Pumpkin Festival

This year at the Stone Mountain Pumpkin Festival you can play all day and glow all night. After the sun goes down, the jack-o-lanterns light up, a sillier-than-spooky Nighttime Parade commences, and you'll find plenty of other not-so-spooky glowing experiences. Although not really a haunted house, it is a little spooky at night will all the glowing jack-o-lanterns, and it's a fun event for the little ones.

Pine Mountain Ghost Train

Take a train of terror (and one of not-so-terror). The Family Time train is designed with younger guests in mind, and is meant to be nonthreatening and fun. Scare Time begins at sunset when the ghosts and ghouls of Pine Mountain are set loose to haunt. A total of three trains will depart every hour beginning at 6:20 each night. Closing time varies nightly – make sure to check! Ticket reservations are not required, but are highly recommended. Tickets are available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights in October.

The Village Haunted Attraction

The Village is an outdoor haunt experience at the Renaissance Festival grounds that takes visitors on a tour of a village that has been cursed by evil forces. The residents have been acting strangely, and are mutating into creatures with a taste for human flesh! Better for your kids aged 13 and older, expect intense scenes and scares, character interactions, and plenty of thrills. You'll also find food, drinks, and games in the Courtyard area before or after your tour.

Haunted Forest at the Buford Corn Maze

The Buford Corn Maze is an Atlanta Halloween tradition. Between the hayride, the bounce house, the pony rides, and the corn box (not to mention the five-acre corn maze), there's plenty here to entertain without the spook factor. But if your older kids are ready for a scary Halloween, come on Friday or Saturday night, when the haunted forest is open from 8 p.m. until midnight. Kids of all ages are allowed, but use your best judgement, and you'll need to accompany kids under 8. It's $16 for the corn maze, haunted or regular.

Kids Boo Fest at Six Flags

Timing your Six Flags visit is the key to serving up just the right amount of horror for the kids. During daylight hours, the festive Kids Boo Fest (Sep. 17-Oct. 30) is a chance for families to get treats in Trick-or-Treat Town, watch Halloween-themed shows, and jump on one of two hayrides. Once night falls, it's time for Fright Fest with terror-filled rides and wandering monsters and zombies. This one's not for the faint of heart. For families with various ages, keep the little ones in the scare-free kid zone while the big kids go exploring after dark, or stick to the day time events to keep it family-friendly.

Fearopolis at Funopolis Family Fun Center

If you're not sure how well your kiddos will handle spooky after-dark activities, Fearopolis could be the perfect introduction to the haunted house experience. Here in Chicago, Halloween seems to last the entire month of October, and for many that makes it the most wonderful time of the year. And considering how questionable fall weather can be, it gives everyone the chance to get in on the fun. If one parade or trick-or-treating event gets cancelled due to weather, you have several more to choose from.

So, take a break from getting lost and found in corn mazes and working your way around all the harvest festivals Chicago has to offer to focus on more faboolous fun. The Chicago Park District will host pumpkin patches with decorating stations, Halloween-themed carnival games, inflatables, and some surprise visitors. Pumpkins cost $5. Six Flags Great America Fright Fest
Go early to admire the Halloween decorations and seasonal menu items. Stay for the rides, live shows, the Monster Bash (an interactive Halloween party for tiny goblins), and the trick-or-treating on Saturdays and Sundays. But make your way to the exit at 5:45pm when The Uprising Parade: Nightly Call of the Dead begins. This is the cue for kids 13 and under to make their way to the park exit or dare to be scared. Fright Fest includes four different haunted houses and four different scare zones, where you can expect to be terrorized by jump scares.

Von Thun Farms' corn maze has a lot going on—in a good way. (Note the farm has two locations.) The maze is split into two sections: one is perfect for kids, while the rest of the maze (the bulk of it) is for all ages. All in all, it takes about 30-45 minutes to complete the maze.

Delaware River Railroad Excursions Corn Maze Train

How's this for blowing your train-crazy kid's mind?: a corn maze you get to via steam train. Yes, it's true. You'll have to drive and hour-and-a-half to get to where you board, but that's small sacrifice for pure joy. While getting there is half the fun, once you arrive you're treated to an experience that's more interactive than the average maze. 

There are two main games you can play. In one, you're tasked with finding six podiums within the maze, then making your "corn card" with the distinct hole punch found at each of the podiums. Participants who find all six get a small prize! The other similarly has you finding six hidden locations in the maze and punching a special card, but this time you're looking to uncover which monster has kidnapped Boots, the farm dog! 

For an additional fee, in addition to the mazes, you can tour the Ol Susquehanna Gem Stone Mine and learn how to mine for gems, which you can take home.

The PumpkinTown corn maze theme this year is Stronger Together. There are interactive elements to the maze, to keep things fresh! In another, you'll learn about Spookley the square pumpkin through a series of story boards. The Buford Corn Maze
As the name suggest, there is much more to do here than just the hayride. Like, maybe a corn maze? But the hayride really is a highlight. Known as Atlanta's longest hayride, not only is it a long leisurely ride into the woods, but the drivers are super friendly and entertaining too.
