Pop star Katy Perry isn’t exactly someone you’d call conventional. When the singer donned a costume for American Idol’s Disney-themed episode, she went for something totally unexpected—and absolutely amazing!

Forget about Ariel and her flowing red locks. Instead of a Disney princess, Perry chose a villain. More specifically, she chose Ursula. And her costume was…well, fit for a serious sea witch.

Perry told Entertainment Tonight, “I was thinking about [being] the Little Mermaid but then I realized, Ursula is a character who isn’t done very much, [while] the Little Mermaid always gets her moment in the sun!” The singer went on to add an American Idol tie-in, saying, “And Ursula, actually, really wants Ariel’s voice. And that’s what I want, is these contestants’ voices!”

So what did Perry’s co-judges think of the imaginative awesomeness of the superstar’s Ursula outfit? Luke Bryan told ET, “I was in my trailer, looking like me, and somebody goes, ‘Katy is gonna be Ursula.’ And I go, ‘Is she purple all over?’ And they said, ‘She’s purple all over.’ I went, ‘God, I love that woman. I love her.'” Yep, we pretty much feel the same way!

This “Game of Thrones” Newborn Photo Shoot Is Perfect for Any Heir to the Iron Throne

Even though her pregnancy was less than perfect, her new family of five is! Pop star, entrepreneur and mama to three, Jessica Simpson, recently shared a sweet fam photo of herself, hubby Eric Johnson, six-year-old Maxwell Drew, five-year-old Ace Knute and brand-new baby Birdie Mae.

The Simpson/Johnson family Easter Instagram post is the first social media share featuring baby Birdie since the one-month-old’s birth. Not only did Simpson post this absolutely aww-dorable family photo, but she also added a few other can’t-miss baby pics.

Judging by Simpson’s Easter photos, matchy-matchy fam-friendly outfits are IT for spring style. While Simpson sported a pretty blue floral frock, daughters Maxwell and Birdie echoed their mama’s look with coordinating flower print dresses.

Along with a sweet big sis-little sis post, Simpson gave fans a glimpse of Birdie Mae, resting comfortably (and cutely) in her bassinet.

And yes, those baby cheeks are totally too cute!

Beyoncé

Queen Bey was spotted recently wandering the baby aisle at Target looking stunning as ever. While the rest of us might slum to the retailer in our best mom sweats, the mom of three may just have inspired us to step it up a notch.

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen also has an exclusive collab with Target, so shopping at Target makes sense. But for the launch of her new kitchen line, she did more than just shop at Target—she actually worked at Target for a day, ringing up customers! Teigen also had some pretty funny thoughts about that whole “Beyoncé shopping at Target” news, too.

Joanna Gaines

With five kids in tow, we’re surprised Jojo doesn’t use curbside pickup or same-day delivery for her Target runs! It’s probably that whole amazing Hearth & Hand with Magnolia collab that keeps her coming in store.

Jenna Bush Hager

Jenna Bush Hager knows how to be resourceful and that includes covering up her locks something every Target aficionado has lying around: a plastic Target shopping bag! The TODAY Show co-host wouldn’t let a swim in the pool ruin her good hair day!

Serena Williams

Last summer, Serena let us all in on her shopping secret––shop Target at night! The tennis superstar prefers to shop late night to get in her Target fix and to try on all the swimsuits she wants without being bothered.

Britney Spears

Do you think Brit Brit is shopping for an anniversary edition of “Hit me Baby, One More Time?” The pop star and mom of two has to do her Target runs, too! Seriously—Britney really likes Target, according to court documents about her spending habits obtained by E! News in 2018.

Jessica Alba

Yup, this actress and mompreneur shops Target, too––after all, they were one of the first places you could stock up on The Honest Company products! She’s been spotted both solo and with her three kiddos in tow.

Jennifer Garner

As a mom of three, it’s no surprise that Jennifer Garner would find herself at Target constantly. Oh, and that whole new line of organic baby food (Once Upon a Farm) probably helps, too. We’ve seen plenty of smiles while she shops and can we please just be besties already?

Michelle Obama

In 2011, the then-First Lady was spotted shopping incognito at Target and it caused quite the uproar at the time. In 2015, Obama told Stephen Colbert “shopping at Target” was one of the things she was most looking forward to once she and her husband left the White House after his second term. (Could we blame her? We think not.)

She’s a pop star, designer and mama to two. Well, she used to be, anyway—because Jessica Simpson is pregnant with baby number three! Simpson and hubby Eric Johnson are the soon-to-be parents of a baby girl, the world has learned.

The celeb mama recently announced her third pregnancy and their baby’s gender on Instagram—and fans are pretty happy for the 38-year-old singer. But it’s not just fans who are psyched—Simpson’s kids can’t wait to be big brother and big sister to baby number three!

The announcement featured a sweet series of pics, showing off Simpson’s baby bump, captioned simply with, “My Baby Love” and photos of her daughter Maxwell, 6, and son Ace, 5. Simpson’s kiddos held up over-sized black and white polka-dot balloons in an IG post, with a caption that simply said, “SURPRISE.”

The mama of almost-three also added a photo of what happened to the giant black and white balloons. The bigger balloons held smaller ones in shades of pink—revealing that Simpson is having a girl. Simpson captioned the pic, “This little baby girl will make us a family of five. We couldn’t be happier to announce this precious blessing of life.”

A mere month ago Simpson joined icon Willie Nelson on stage for a duet during the Orange County Fair in California. Even though she was already pregnant at the time, Simpson did a pretty amazing job at camouflaging any sign of her bump with a black and white polka-do dress. Hmm…anyone see a theme here?

Congrats to the mama and her soon-to-be family of five!

Singer Carrie Underwood Opens Up about Her Heartbreaking Pregnancy Losses

If you’ve got a little diva, rocker or rapper in the house, you’re gonna want to know about this. This week, The Chord Club powered by Billboard, a state of the art recording studio, recreational music school and private event space opens on the Upper East Side, and it’s ready to help your budding musician (or DJ or producer) rock out no matter how young, whether it’s at a class, lesson or off the hook birthday party.

The Chord Club Basics
The brainchild of NYC mom Theresa Scotto, The Chord Club started as a pop-up party planning service in a Midtown Manhattan recording studio. Now Scotto and music industry mag Billboard have teamed up to launch The Chord Club.

This is no kiddie version of a recording studio; it’s the real deal. Designed under the creative direction of professional sound engineers, the 5,700-square-foot facility contains two large recording studios, private classrooms and a sun-lit event space. While the venue will be hosting classes for kids as young as five months old, it’s also where adult musicians could cut a track if they so desired.

Just for Babes & Toddlers
The Chord Club will offer classes for kids of all ages and commitment levels, taught by professional New York City musicians and child educators. Its version of “Mommy & Me” music classes, “Chord Club Early Rockers” are offered for kids ages five months to five years old, and explore a new genre of music each week (as found on the Billboard charts) such as pop, rock, country, heavy metal and beyond. Billboard Babies Unplugged features singlongs to acoustic tunes of the kiddie classic and Hot 100 variety; Shake, Rattle & Roll introduces movement to the singing of Billboard classics, and Little Rockers Jam finds a live band backing the tiny musicians. Free trial classes are available the week of October 5 and classes start the week of October 12!  Read more about Chord Club Early Rockers here.

For the Bigger Kids
For budding MCs, DJs, divas and singer/songwriters, The Chord Club is ready to help them take things to the next level. DJ classes are available for 7-17 year olds; kids five and up can take learn guitar alongside other players and play together in “Guitar Jam”, and budding singer/songwriters eight years old and up can learn the basics of crafting a tune, vocal technique and stage presence in the singer/songwriter club. Many classes include a final show or recital at the end of the semester. For ages 10 and up, Pop Star Studio 101 can help aspiring Taylors, Nickis and Drakes develop and refine solo and group live performance.

(If your child is more the Quincy Jones/Lucious Lyon impresario-type, The Chord Club offers classes in Foundation in Music Business and Music Production.) Find info on classes for older kids here.  Free trial classes are available the week of October 5, and classes start the week of October 12.

Lessons from Beginner to Pro
The Chord Club also offers good old fashioned lessons for those just starting out or more accomplished musicians. Lessons 45 or 75 minutes in length are available for guitar, bass, voice and piano for both individuals and groups.

Party Hard at the Chord Club
Maybe it’s just us, but we think even the most jaded of New York kids would think a party at The Chord Club is pretty cool. With party packages starting for kids as young as five years old, themes include “Mini Pop Star”, “Girls Rock”, “Hip-Hop Blowout” and “Open Mic.” Parties find kids in the studio recording favorite songs with vocal coaches and engineers, and then reveling in the Party Lounge after.

All the basics of a kids’ party are included, such as pizza, balloons, decor, paper goods, custom water bottles, and more, and add-ons ranging from adult food options, a step and repeat red carpet set up (!) and cakes, to a graffiti artist, face painter and spray-on tattoos are available as well. Rates are for 15 guests and celebrant. Read more about parties here.

Which party would your kid love to throw at The Chord Club? Tell us in the comments below!
