If you didn’t already know, The Tiny Chef is the world’s tiniest herbivore chef. He loves whipping up teeny meals as the host of The Tiny Chef Show. Cheffy just released his new book, The Tiny Chef and da mishing weshipee blook, with Penguin Random House.

According to the book’s description: “This debut picture book adventure finds the Tiny Chef at home in his kitchen on a beautiful day, but not all is well inside the Chef’s stump. He’s misplaced his favorite recipe book—the one he uses to cook all of his best dishes, like his famous stew! What is the Chef to do?! He practically tears apart his house looking for it. He gets so frustrated he throws a tantrum. But then he does what we all have to do sometimes when we’re upset. He counts to ten. He goes for a nice long walk. And that’s when inspiration strikes! A little rosemary, some mushrooms, and the Chef might have a brand-new recipe after all. And that’s when his recipe book finally appears. Right where he left it—now isn’t that weird?”

Los Angeles vegan restaurant Little Pine has crafted a recipe for the Chef’s famous stew, which will be featured on the endpapers.

Cheffy is very excited that his friend RuPaul will be narrating the audiobook with him. RuPaul helps share Cheffy’s missing “Blegaful Shew” recipe at the end  in hopes that parents and kids will cook it together after reading the book

The Tiny Chef said, “Moognesh me im shtill en blabsholute shock Wu wead da blook wif me. blits twuwy a dweam come twu and I can neber fank my fwend Kweesten Blell enuf fo makin et blappen.”

Thanks to Cheffy’s friends, Kristen Bell and Imagine Entertainment, The Tiny Chef Show will soon be on the big screen. Bell said, “The Tiny Chef adds a refreshing dose of good to the universe, and for that, I am thankful.”

The Tiny Chef and da mishing weshipee blook is on sale now for $18.99.

Easy Outdoor Workouts for New Moms

Easy Ways to Fit in Fitness as a New Mom

24 of the Best At-Home Workout Programs

We have a feeling you’ll be having a lot of family dinners in the next few weeks. Take advantage of this at-home time by implementing healthy habits at the table. Rebuild and strengthen your bond—with one of these habits brought to you by parents just like you. Scroll down to read more.

photo: monkeybusiness via iStock

1) Device-free is the way to be. Want your kids to engage in meaningful conversation and enjoy their meal? Put away the devices and distractions. Turn off the TV, too. We can’t promise this will make your kids eat their peas, but at least they’ll hear you when you’re begging. Need more reasons? Check out Will Ferrell’s latest video as part of Common Sense Media’s campaign for #devicefreedinner campaign.

2) Fancy it up, a little. Doesn’t matter if it’s take-out or home cooked, swap out a few basics to make dinner a bit more special. Cloth napkins and serving spoons just might do the trick. Dim the lights, too. Make it cozy with mood lighting! (Also, then you won’t see all the stuff your kid just threw on the floor.)

3) Sit down, already. Every parent ever is guilty of running around the kitchen/house while the kids eat. Make it a point to sit down and talk with your kids, and eat your meal, at the same time as the kiddos, for one meal a day.

4) Say one thing that you are grateful for. Or try a game like Rose & Thorns: Each person talks about their thorn—something that bothered them that day or made them unhappy—and a rose—something they are proud of or that brought them joy.

5) Try a Meal Kit or DeliveryCut down on the amount of dinner prep and spend more time with your kids at the table eating together. We know it’s easier said then done, which is why once a week we suggest making it a point to outsource the prep or even the whole meal. Our Editor recently tried, Plated. Each dish is chef-designed, meaning you get the restaurant quality food in the convenience of your own home. Plus, for those with food allergies, Plated is super clear about what the dish has and is free of.

6) Keep the gab going! We know, it’s hard to not say, “One more bite” or “Keep eating” throughout the meal, but with good conversation and less demands, you’ll be surprised how much your kid eats. Try one of these 26 honest conversation starters for families.

7) Kid’s Choice Awards. Instead of asking what everyone want’s for dinner, try giving each family member a vote for one meal a week. Yes, you may have pancakes for dinner once a week, but at least you won’t have to meal plan!

8) Jazz things up on the table or in the kitchen and on the table. Gadgets! Everyone needs a new one once in a while. We love the rose-napkin holders and the little watering can for dressing!

9) Let the kids help. No matter their age or stage, getting the kids engaged in meal prep can make them more interested in the meal itself. Plus, they will beam with pride when you brag about how helpful they were. Check out this list of things kids can do in the kitchen by themselves.

10) Consistency is key. We don’t mean the mashed potatoes: whenever possible, eat dinner at the same time every day. The predictability is comforting for kids, and it increases the chances they will be engaged in the meal.

11) Relocate. Of course, you want the majority of your meals to be around the family dinner table but sometimes a picnic on the living room floor, a meal on the deck if the weather is nice or even heading to a park can refresh everyone’s attitude about being together.

What are your family’s traditions for mealtime? Share with our community in a comment below!

Dating can be a fun and exhilarating experience. Dating when you have children can make things a little bit more complicated. Dating.com conducted a study of members who reported to be single parents and uncovered why they were hesitant about beginning to date again.

Couple in restaurant

Among the parents surveyed, the biggest impediment to dating again were concerns over how their kids will react. 68% of parents do not reveal they have children on their dating profiles. Some parents are reluctant due to their uncertainty entering the dating scene again. It may have been years since they have been out on a date, so they simply don’t know what to expect.

Dating.com offered some tips to make the transition into the dating world less intimidating.

1. Make sure you are feeling your best. Being absent from the dating scene for an extended period of time might have you feeling out of touch, insignificant or flat out old. Nothing is sexier than confidence, so make sure you take the time to refresh your wardrobe, practice yoga or workout, take new pictures for your online dating profiles and do whatever it takes to boost your self-esteem.

2. Get online. See what the internet has to offer. There are lots of different platforms that cater to different preferences, find what interests you and create a profile.

3. Take things slow. Jumping straight back into dating after a long break may be weird at first. Test the waters by starting conversations with multiple people. Once you feel you have gotten back into the swing of things, you can take the next step and meet for coffee or dinner.

4. Talk to your kids and friends. Talking to your kids and friends or younger friends you feel comfortable talking to about dating, get their input. You’ll be surprised what kind of advice they have to give. You may notice that dating culture today is much more different than what you’re used to and these loved ones can be great resources and confidence boosters.

Once you finally connect with someone that you can see having a long-term relationship with, it will come time to introduce your kids to your new partner. Have a conversation ahead of time and be honest with your children regarding your relationship status. Gauge their reaction so you can avoid any surprises when they finally meet.

Keep the first ineteartion between your new partner and your children low-key and short. It is usually recommended to have the meeting take place at a location your kids enjoy, like a restaurant or ice cream parlor. Most importantly, don’t rush the relationship. Give your kids time to develop a bond with your new partner on their own.
