Krispy Kreme Is Launching Fruity Doughnuts Just in Time for Spring

Springtime evokes thoughts of your favorite fruit flavors and visions of beautiful pastel colors. Krispy Kreme is launching its most colorful innovation yet. Fresh off the Line Doughnuts, a series of everyone’s favorite fruit flavors ready for the picking, starts off with Strawberry Glaze on Tues., Apr. 28.

Krispy Kreme will release one new flavor each week, available Tues. through Fri., over the next three weeks.

Along with the fruit glazed varieties, Krispy Kreme is also introducing an Original Filled doughnut for the first time ever.

Strawberry Glazed and Strawberry Kreme Filled Doughnuts (available Tues., Apr. 28 through Fri., May 1) are a fresh take on one of the season’s most loved fruits. Both Doughnuts are covered in a strawberry glaze, with the Original Filled featuring a light and airy strawberry Kreme.

Key Lime Glazed and Key Lime Kreme Filled Doughnuts (available Tues., May 5 through Fri., May 8) will brighten your days at home with the tart flavor of key lime paired perfectly with the sweetness of Krispy Kreme Original Glazed. The Original Filled version is covered in key lime glaze and filled with a key lime Kreme.

Someitmes you want a bowl of ice cream and sometimes you want a boozy treat. Now you can have both at the same time. Starting April 2020, Häagen-Dazs is adding two new flavors to its beloved Spirits Collection.

Häagen-Dazs recently announced that Rosé & Cream and Whiskey Hazelnut Latte will make their debuts in freezer aisles nationwide starting in April 2020. They come in 14 oz. cartons and will be available for $5.49 each.

Rosé & Cream is a wine infused sweet cream ice cream folded together with a refreshingly tart Rosé flavored swirl

Whiskey Hazelnut Latte is a spiked latte inspired treat with delicious whiskey infused coffee ice cream blended with ribbons of hazelnut fudge and chocolate espresso flakes

The current lineup currently includes: Irish Cream Brownie, Rum Tres Leches, Bourbon Vanilla Bean Truffle, Bourbon Praline Pecan, Non-Dairy Amaretto Black Cherry Almond Toffee, and Irish Cream Cookie Squares. The full collection is 0.5 percent alcohol by volume.

Bakeries across the D.C. metro area are reinventing the classic pop tart by churning out freshly made versions in flavors that you’d probably never find in a boxed toaster pastry (hello, apple rosemary!). Just a hop, skip, and jump away from the Arlington campus of George Mason University, this coffee shop is a go-to study hub for college students during the pm hours. Swing by with your bambino early, when there’s plenty of seating and the uber-popular Nutella pop tarts ($2.25) are still aplenty. Your little one can team his with hot chocolate or milk (they have whole, nonfat, and organic soy), while you nosh on yours between sips of French press coffee.

Some places have pancakes. Others have cronuts. But homemade pop tarts are the breakfast (er, anytime of the day) treat du jour at this vintage-inspired restaurant. Come for a celebration breakfast (which is served all day, snatch), and substitute a pop tart—in flavors like Blueberry Cheesecake, Peanut Butter Bacon, and Toasted Coconut—for toast with any meal for $1.59. Sticky Fingers

This bakery specializes in vegan fare. Their cupcakes are world renowned—their vegan, but you’d never know it—and their pop tarts (they call them “Hand Tarts”)are just as delish. Their flavors—from apple cinnamon walnut to chocolate raspberry change regularly, depending on what’s in season. To keep these tarts ($3.50/each) on the vegan scale and healthy, they’re dairy, egg, and cholesterol free, and they’re made with non-hydrogenated oils and evaporated cane juice.

Spring Mill Bread Co.
The pop tarts are made fresh daily at this flagship bakery in Bethesda (there are also locations in Capitol Hill and Gaithersburg), and the smell alone, when they are baking, is enough to bring an ear-to-ear smile to your face. It will be hard, but try not to get distracted by all of the other breads and sweets on display. Spring Mill’s pop tarts ($2.95/each) come in traditional flavors and they’re big enough to split between two small kids.

Pop-Tarts Now Come in a Limited-Edition Fruit Loops Flavor

What would happen if you accidentally dropped an ooey, gooey iced Pop-Tart into a box of sweet, sweet Fruit Loops? Now you don’t have to imagine—because, according to recent reports, these cereal-spiked toaster pastries are an actual thing.

Instagrammer @Snackstalker recently spotted the toaster treats at Walmart. Along with a pic of the box, @Snackstalker wrote, “The best holiday gift is here!”

If you’re a fan of either breakfast treat, the limited-edition snacks are right up your alley. The 16-pack box, which is only available in stores (as of now), has days of snacks in store for Pop-Tart and Fruit Loop lovers alike.

Even though Kellogg’s doesn’t list the Fruit Loop-filled flavor on its website, Instagrammers are still finding boxes across the country. If you can’t find this sugar-packed pick at your local Walmart, you still have plenty of Pop-Tart options. Fab flavors such as the unicorn-themed Sparkelicious Cherry, Cookies & Creme, Drizzled Sugar Cookie Frosted Brownie Batter and Vanilla Milkshake are all still tasty choices!

Fans of the original Swimmers know this TJ’s fave as a yummy, gummy alternative to the iconic little red fish that you’ve pretty much adored since birth—or at least the preschool years. Now the TJ’s treat is getting an upgrade with tart and tangy flavors.

The new Super Sour Swimmers are similar to Sour Patch Kids, but with a different look. Instead of the teeny tiny little people shapes, these are sea creatures.

Made with cane sugar, tapioca, spirulina, annatto and other natural fruit and veggie sources, the Super Sour version of the Swimmers come in red berry (starfish), huckleberry (dolphin), orange (tang fish), and strawberry (clam shell) flavors.

You can find 14-ounce bags of these tangy goodies in TJ’s stores now for $2.99.

Things are a little different in 2019 and this hilarious video of 1989 moms versus 2019 moms highlights exactly how much things have changed.

Funny moms Meredith Masony of That’s Inappropriate and Tiffany Jenkins of Juggling the Jenkins have teamed up to compare and contrast the differences between how moms handled those long summer days in the ’80s versus now and they’ve summed it up perfectly in the video below.

Those days of baking in the sun and sending the kids off for a day of roaming the neighborhood with nothing more than a Pop Tart have been replaced with fresh ostrich milk, 100 SPF sunscreen and meditating with goats. Pretty accurate.

The only question that remains is are you a 1989 mom, a 2019 mom or a little bit of both?
