There’s nothing like a classic fairytale romance to inspire a real life love and one man used Disney’s Sleeping Beauty to propose to his girlfriend in the most epic way.

Filmmaker Lee Loechler decided he would use his girlfriend’s love of Sleeping Beauty to pull off an incredible and unexpected proposal. Loechler worked with an animator for six months to edit himself and his girlfriend, Dr. Sthuthi David, into the classic Disney film.

When the new cut was completed he rented out a movie theater and even invited some of their family and friends to join in the audience and witness the big moment. They were all in on the surprise and David didn’t suspect a thing, believing that they were all simply going to the movies to watch a special screening of her favorite film.

The proposal moment doesn’t come until close to the end of the film, so it was a suspenseful wait for Loechler, according to an interview with Insider. As the prince comes to wake Aurora from her magical slumber, the new scenes begin to play out and David catches on to what’s happening. “Big public proposals can be sweet, but I could never imagine putting someone on the spot like that if you’re not 100% sure they will say yes,” he told Insider.

Luckily the story has a happy ending and David gladly accepted his proposal. Although he hilariously prepared for the alternative answer, so watch the video all the way to the end, it’s totally worth it.

Pop star Nick Carter recently revealed the birth of his baby girl. Even though he and wife Lauren Kitt announced their baby joy, via a rep, they didn’t provide the deets—that is, until now.

In a new Instagram post, Carter shared a pic of his daughter’s face and her name!

So what did the new parents name their baby girl? Carter’s post includes the line, “So on January 28th 2019 when I walked out of that bathroom with that positive test I already knew that Saoirse was coming back to us” in the caption. He also added a hashtag with his new daughter’s full name, #saorisereigncarter.

Along with the name, Carter also gave some major props to his wife, adding, “To my incredibly strong wife…For two years I watched you endure some of the hardest things a husband could ever witness. Going through the ups and downs of pregnancy all in the hopes that just maybe, with a little help from up above, we would get to this point.”

Not being able to witness the first moment your baby enters into the world can be a down side to undergoing a cesarean section. Clear c-section drapes could give moms a whole new point of view, however.

Photos taken by birth doula and photographer Tracey Abney went viral last year because they featured the unique clear c-section drapes that allow moms to see their babies being born. The clear drape features a removable opaque drape attached to the clear one, so that the view can be blocked until the time comes for the baby to be born. Then the opaque drape is removed giving moms a clear view.

“Clear drapes help the mother feel like she is part of the birthing process,” Abney told Parents. “She can see her baby before it is taken to the warmer. She can see the baby when everyone else does, the moment the baby is born. She can match the sound of the baby’s cries while watching the quiver of the baby’s little chin.”

The clear drape is part of a growing trend called a “gentle c-section.” The idea behind this trend is to try to give moms and babies more of a bonding experience through the entire process. “A gentle C-section allows a woman to be almost as involved as if her birth was happening vaginally,” Dr. David Garfinkel, attending physician at Morristown Medical Center, and senior partner at One to One FemaleCare, in New Jersey told Parents.

What’s Serena Williams’ greatest accomplishment? Hint: It’s not her stand-out tennis record. It’s her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

Even though the celeb sports mama doesn’t celebrate birthdays (as a Jehovah’s Witness bday parties are not part of her belief system), she did pay tribute to her now-two-year-old daughter on the day of her birth.

Competing in the U.S. Open didn’t stop Williams from posting a family birth pic and cute caption on Instagram. Along with a photo of the tot just minutes after her birth, Williams wrote, “The last 2 years have been my greatest accomplishment.”

Hubby Alexis Ohanian echoed the sweet sentiment with his own IG post, “Thank you for being the greatest thing we’ve ever done.” Ohanian, who recently wrote an essay for The New York Times Parenting section, also added, “And thank you for teaching me that every parent in the US deserves those first months with their newborn. I’m a better business leader because of it. #PaidFamilyLeave.”

Guest judge Jay Leno used the coveted golden buzzer to put one awesomely talented 10-year-old through to America’s Got Talent’s live rounds. And the talented kiddo’s performance wasn’t what anyone expected!

Ten-year-old Emanne Beasha has a voice to envy, but instead of the typical tween or teen pop you might expect from someone her age, Beasha is more of an opera diva.

Beasha wowed viewers and the judges with her performance of “Caruso” sung completely in Italian. AGT’s Howie Mandel said of Beasha’s powerful operatic performance, “You’re only 10-years-old, and we are seeing acts come out here and they’re sweating, and they’re not performing to par, they’re not stepping it up, and they’re double your age.” Mandel went on to add, “And then you come out here and you show them how it’s done.”

Leno, who gave the young star the go-ahead with the golden buzzer said, “I feel like I am witness to something extremely special.” And we totally agree!

A groundbreaking superhero is about to hit theaters as Marvel’s first female Captain Marvel graces the big screen—and one organization wants to ensure that every young girl has the chance to witness it. The Captain Marvel challenge GoFundMe is raising money to make it happen.

Girls Inc. and We Have Stories have partnered up to help send girls across the country to see this inspiring new superhero in theaters for free. We Have Stories, headed by founder Frederick Joseph, is the same organization that raised funds to help send kids all over the world to see Black Panther last year.

“The lead character, Carol Danvers, is not only a superhero, she’s also an athlete and fighter pilot,” Joseph said in a statement. “She is a prime example of the fact that women can do anything, and there isn’t a better person to be playing her than Brie Larson, who has been one of the faces of numerous feminist movements such as TIME’S UP. I am inspired by Brie and women around the globe and look forward to sending as many girls as possible to see this film.”

The GoFundMe has already out-raised its initial goal of $20,000, raising $22,000 in just over a week. Since the movie doesn’t hit theaters until March, there’s still time to get that figure closer to the $800,000 that was raised for Black Panther screenings.

The “Captain Marvel” Trailer Has Dropped & Brie Larson Is Absolutely Marvel-ous

Like so many before me, I have been witness to my fair share of unfair—and untrue—myths related to adoption. My son, whom my wife and I were lucky enough to bring into our family many years ago, has heard even more adoptions myths.

I will never forget the day that my son had a full-blown meltdown. Diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder from an early age, he had been going through intensive therapy. This therapy worked alongside constant efforts from my wife and I to help him feel loved and safe. These episodes had become far and few between and yet, at the age of nine, he was having the worst I had seen in a long time.

Once we had managed to calm him down, he told us what had happened. At school, they had  a “Tell Us About Yourself” activity where everyone shared one interesting fact about themselves. My son chose to share that he had been adopted.

At recess, one of the boys from his class came up to him and told him that if he was adopted, it was because his real mom and dad hated him. He also said that my wife and I weren’t really his parents, so he had none.

The Adoption Stigma

Sadly, ours is not a story that will come as a surprise to other families with adopted children. The practice of adoption is actively encouraged, yet cruel jokes and comments about adopted children are everywhere. Sometimes, I wonder if the stigma could be actively reducing the number of people who choose to adopt. Some researchers have tentatively proposed that North Americans are more likely to consider a “real family” to be parents with their biological children.

According to the Adoption Network, there are more than 428,000 children in foster care in the United States. Only 135,000 adoptions happen in the nation every year. Just think of all of those children waiting for forever homes. It is enough to break anyone’s heart.

While there is limited proof that this perception of adoption is actively harming the practice, it certainly isn’t helping matters. Not to mention the damage adoption stigma has on those kids who have to hear snide remarks of being unwanted, a statement that is patently false. Those kids are cherished just as much by their adopted families as they would be by their biological ones, maybe even more.

What Do Adoptive Parents Do?

There is only one real way to combat this issue, and that is through education. The next time someone asks you if you really love your adopted child as much as your biological ones, don’t get angry. Just be firm and say, “Yes, absolutely and that question is inappropriate.”

When your child tells you that someone has told them that they are unloved or unwanted, tell them that isn’t true. When my son came home crying, I hugged him and said, “We love you very much. In fact, we wanted you to be our little boy so much that we picked you out of all the other children in the world.”

We will never be able to change every mind. But we can stand up for the truth when the issue arises. Someday, through all our efforts, the stigma will end. Until then, we just have to keep loving our children as fully and completely as we always have.

Do you ever notice how it feels like it’s way too early in the day and there’s just not enough coffee in the world every time you go to drop off your kid at school?Comedian Susannah B. Lewis totally understands, and her viral school drop-off line video completely nails it. Seriously—it captures absolutely everything you’ve probably experienced or thought at least once while dropping your kids off for the day.

With millions of Facebook views and climbing, Lewis’s video has received plenty of attention—and for good reason. Lewis hits on just about every mommy-ing moment that we’ve all probably dealt with during the morning school drop-off—that is, unless you’re one of those lucky mamas that has a BFF who’s the morning carpool chauffeur. (Even so, that BFF is probably thinking these same things, too!)

In her just-under two-minute-long monologue, Lewis rattles off a hilarious line-up of what plenty of parents witness during drop-off. There’s the mom who is up, showered and has probably already fit in her daily work-out. #Goals, right?

Oh, but that’s not all. In her comic mini rant, Lewis also regales some of the other drop-off line regulars, such as the mom who is still taking pics of her kiddo walking into school even though the first day has come and gone, or the kid who can’t seem to get out of their car—as they’re tragically tangled in their massive backpack.

If you’re not yet ready for the back-to-school grind, this video is definitely for you!
