  • Brand Wrap: This modern, scaled-up version of the ribbon design features bold bands of holiday color and the Starbucks wordmark, designer street style.

It’s that time of year again. Starbucks recently announced its annual holiday cup designs—and after toying with more than 50 designs, the coffee retailer is ready to debut the four that made this year’s lineup!

The four cup designs come in shades of red, white and Sbuck’s signature green and feature creative typography and plenty of holiday-themed joy. This year you’ll have your pick from pretty red and green polka dots, a “Merry” cup featuring red and green letters, a green vintage wrapping-inspired lettered print or candy cane stripes with mixed-up “Starbucks” lettering.

Jen Quotson, vice president of Starbucks Creative said in a press release, “We came up with this idea of wrapping the stores in holiday joy and wrapping the cups like a gift to our partners and customers.” Quotson added, “We wanted coming to Starbucks to be like uncovering a present.”

Along with the four holiday designs, Starbucks is bringing back the free limited-edition reusable red cup. Starting on Nov. 7 customers can get their free cup when they order a holiday beverage at participating Starbucks locations while supplies last. Don’t delay—last year’s free reusable cups flew off the shelves in record time. Bring your 2019 red reusable cup back to participating Starbucks locations after 2 p.m. Nov. 7 through Jan. 7 to score 50 cents off your grande holiday beverage pick!

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced a recall of nearly 7,000 IKEA MATVRÅ bib two-packs in blue/red due to a potential choking hazard. Representatives from IKEA did not immediately return Red Tricycle’s request for comment.

If you have this product, read on for more information on this important recall.

Recalled Product Description: MATVRÅ Bibs

The recall includes IKEA’s MATVRÅ bib two-packs in blue/red only. These bibs were sold in packs of two, with one blue bib and one red bib each. Both bibs have a snap at the back of the neck. The blue version has a green seam along the outside of the bib and white polka dots. The red version has a yellow seam and red polka dots. The polka dots are on the seam, not on the main body of the bib.

Why the Bibs Were Recalled

It’s possible for the snap on the bib to detach, posing a potential choking hazard. Even though IKEA has received two worldwide (not in the United States) reports of this happening, as of now there are no reported injuries.

How to Tell If Your IKEA Bib Was Recalled

This recall is only for the IKEA MATVRÅ bib two-pack in the blue and red colors. Look for the words MATVRA, IKEA and the IKEA logo printed on a white tag on the back of the bib for style identification. According to a recall notice from IKEA, “The MATVRÅ bibs with the fruit/vegetable pattern in green and yellow, are not included in this recall and are safe to continue to use, as they are of a different material and construction.”

What Parents Can Do

If you have the recalled bibs, do not use them. Return the bibs to an IKEA store for a refund. Customers with questions can contact IKEA at 888-966-4532 or visit the company’s website here.

Is there anything more exciting to kids than a cardboard box? Yes: a cardboard box that’s been painted and lettered to look like their own personal mailbox! Read on for the super-easy instructions that’ll get your kids going totally postal… all in good fun, of course.

What you’ll need:

Cardboard Box

Pencil

Box cutter

Acrylic paint (we used blue) and paintbrush

Packing tape

Large letter stickers

Felt, velcro stickers, glue, and scissors (optional, for making “envelopes”)

Step 1: Tape up your box on all sides
Use packing tape to tape up your empty box so that all sides are solid and sturdy. Go ahead and give your little helpers some tape, too. They may not tape it on the right place, but they’ll have fun trying (and you’re going to paint over the whole thing anyway).

Step 2: Make some cuts
Use a pencil to make lines on your box where you’d like the mail slot, package slot, and mail retrieval slot (on the back end) to be. Then, use a box cutter (way easier than scissors — we tried!) to cut your box along the lines.

Step 3: Bring on the color!
Paint your mailbox. Several coats will probably be needed to cover the cardboard as well as hide any stickers, patterns, or writing. We wanted our mailbox to look just like the one on the street corner, so we opted for a few coats of royal blue; however, there are no rules! Want to go rainbows and polka dots? Go for it! You can even sprinkle glitter on the paint while it’s still drying if you want to make a “magical” sort of box (this might be a great way for the Tooth Fairy or any other, otherworldly friends to deliver gifts and trinkets to wishful kiddos).

Step 4: Add some stickers
When the paint is completely dry, use the letter stickers to label the “Letters” and “Packages” slots on the front of your mailbox. We also spelled out “MAIL” on both sides of our mailbox. If you want to get really formal, you could instead slap on a real U.S. Postal Service logo on the sides of your mailbox. You can find a large one to print here.

Note: It helps to use a ruler when you apply the letters, just so you get them all on a straight line.

Step 5: (Optional) Make some play “mail”
After my overeager little mail-sender crushed a few too many paper envelopes trying to squish letters into the mail slot, I realized it would be better to make a pliable envelope that she could easily stuff into the slots. To do this, take a piece of felt and fold it in half with one side extending longer than the other so it can be folded over to make an envelope shape. Use a hot glue gun (if you have one) to seal the sides of the envelope together; then, cut the overhanging “lip” to make a triangle(-ish) shape. Use Velcro stickers to fasten the letters shut.

Do your kids like to send letters? Share your mail-worthy ideas with us in the comments section below!
