Museum Day is this weekend! The annual event offers free admission to museums across the country and celebrates our country’s diverse cultural experiences. There’s availability at loads of locations for you to grab your downloadable ticket, with participants in all 50 states.

Each ticket will grant the holder and one guest timed access to any participating museum on September 18. You can download one ticket per email address, so the whole family can enjoy, but note that you can only choose one museum for a free ticket. Some museums that offer free children’s admission will not require a kid’s ticket for this event, but you may want to contact your chosen spot in advance to be safe. Participating locations will have safety precautions in place to protect against the ongoing pandemic.

This is the 17th annual Museum Day and it’s particularly special, since many museums faced long closures due to COVID-19. The Smithsonian Magazine created the event to commit to access, equity and inclusion. You can see a full list of participating museums and get your downloadable ticket through the magazine’s website.

The event is sponsored by The Quaker Oats Company and the company is also running an instant win giveaway program through September 15. Participants can enter to win one of 100 Smithsonian Science kits per day! Plus there’s a grand prize for five lucky adults, who will each win a virtual Smithsonian Museum tour and private Q&A for up to 35 guests. Head to QuakerBacktoSchool.com to try your luck.

There are so many things to love about summer: the warm weather, the longer days, the slowed-down attitude, and all of the extra time for activities. Whether your family is getting creative, planning something active or wanting to relax by the beach, the summer heat makes it even more important to stay hydrated. Did you know that according to the American Journal of Public Health, 1 in 2 kids is underhyrated*?

Creative Roots is a flavored coconut water beverage that makes it much easier to help keep kids hydrated, thanks to the delicious fruit flavors that your littles will love to sip.

See what activities these moms are looking forward to this summer, and why Creative Roots is with them along the way:

Courtney Williams

When Texas-based mom Courtney Williams is looking to spend some one-on-one time with her oldest daughter, they like to check out the trails at their local park. Creative Roots is a win-win for the duo’s hikes since Courtney loves that it has one gram of sugar and Carri loves the delicious flavors.

Patricia Chang

Patricia Chang is using the summer to spend time outside in her garden with her son, Chase. To help beat the heat and avoid underhydration, Patricia gives Chase Creative Roots to sip on. With four flavors to pick from (Orange Pineapple, Mixed Berry, Peach Mango and Watermelon Lemonade), Chase is always excited to try new options!

Save the Date: The Descendants Are Reuniting for a Royal Wedding

Parenting isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. Unless you’re a mom qualifying for the Olympic track team! On Sunday night, Quanera Hayes and Allyson Felix finished first and second in the 400-meter dash to secure their tickets to Tokyo and celebrated with an impromptu playdate on the track.

After the race, Hayes brought her son Demetrius to meet Felix’s daughter Camyrn. An adorable moment ensued, of course. “Guys, we’re going to Tokyo,” Felix said and Hayes added “Super mommies, yeah!”

The two moms gave birth to their children within weeks of each other in Fall 2018 and didn’t let that stop them from returning to top speed. Hayes won the race in 49.78 seconds, her fastest time since winning the 2017 U.S. title in a personal best 49.72. She told Team USA that it was tough to come back after giving birth and progress was slow, but her hard work paid off with the victory over a stacked field.

The most decorated woman in American track and field history, Felix qualified for her fifth Olympic Games and her first since becoming a mom. She clocked a season’s best time of 50.02 after racing past several runners down the stretch. It wasn’t easy—she suffered severe preeclampsia during her pregnancy and had an emergency C-section to deliver her daughter, but after a long hospital stay and recovery she’s running at elite speed once more.

We’re excited to watch these Super Moms compete in the upcoming Olympics! Here’s hoping for more winning track and field playdates, too.
