Martin Creed’s The Back Door

Described as a "playful spectacle", Turner Prize winning British artist Martin Creed's "The Back Door" employs doors and curtains that open and shut on their own, a piles of chairs, a room of balloons (!), among other elements. Plus: a band of roving musicians kids love to follow around. The work takes place throughout the massive historical building, including the cavernous Wade Thompson Drill Hall (the last of which is worth a visit alone). It's Creed's largest U.S. installation to date, and closes soon, so hop to it! An important note: a staffer will warn you that a series of galleries accessed on one side of the drill hall contains "mature content." Believe them! (Want even more Creed? He's got a work on the Brooklyn Waterfront now, too.) P.S.: kids under five are free!
