Foodies on the hunt for a new Seattle dining spot with a stylish atmosphere and fresh food that welcomes kids should take note of Phinney Market Pub & Eatery. Situated a stone’s throw from the Woodland Park Zoo and playground, neighborhood residents Caleb and Jaimee Papineau recently opened Phinney Market Pub & Eatery, named after the shuttered market that formerly occupied the same space. The restaurant is contributing to the continued transformation of the family-filled Phinney Ridge neighborhood!

The Space
On any Saturday afternoon, parents can be spotted chatting while little ones nibble on plates of eggs and toast at tables constructed from reclaimed wood salvaged from Alaska. Kiddos also have access to a built-in play area filled with smart, interactive toys including a custom-built train table modeled after the neighborhood. This pub space doesn’t offer booths, but you won’t have to worry about littles one getting squirly in a small space because this  restaurant is spacious with tables scattered around a large communal table that seats 20, so pull up a chair.

If you’re looking for an evening date night spot, you should definitely check out the hip bar area serving seasonal drinks including hard cider and cream ale. An open kitchen in one corner of the large, bright room adds to the bustling feel of the space.

The Food
Phinney Market Pub and Eatery has an extensive kids menu where every item is only $4.50 and includes a kid-sized drink. For little ones, you’ll love the Tiny Tidbits option – diced ham, cheddar cubes, baby carrots, and black olives – for kiddos more interested in playing with their food than eating it. For the picky eater this place is a dream, offering almond butter and jam sandwiches on whole wheat toast, the perfect mac and cheese, or grilled chicken strips with dipping sauce. And these are only a few of our favorites from the menu!

Grown ups can opt for house-made corned beef with eggs and horseradish sauce or cinnamon orange french toast for brunch, an almond crusted salmon or sesame steak skewers for dinner, and delicious small plates for Happy Hour (3:00pm – 5:00pm every day!).

With a friendly staff that remembers names of regulars and encourages lingering over coffee and dessert, Phinney Market Pub & Eatery will be quick to become a Seattle brunch or dinner favorite. Plus their hours are family on-the-go friendly, opening for coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches at 7:00 am and then switching to lunch service at 11:00 am. The bar menu kicks in at 3:00 pm and dinner starts at 5:00 p.m.

Street parking is available. For public transit, the 5 Metro Bus drops off right across the street!
