Parenthood comes with a lot of shocks and surprises, but one mom was in for a truly special surprise when she adopted her two kids. Newly-divorced Colorado mom Katie Page went from single to a mom of two biological siblings in the span of one month.
Page wanted to be a mom, so she decided to become a foster parent. She was given a boy named Grayson to care for first. Just a few short weeks, later she received another call to care for a baby girl, who she named Hannah. What happened next goes way beyond “small world” territory and into “what are the chances.”
Page immediately noticed similarities between the two. The first clue was that Hannah was born in the same hospital as Grayson and had the same mother’s name and mother’s date of birth on her hospital bracelet. She also noticed things about their features that were the same, like a chin dimple. Finally she checked in with the case worker and after a DNA test, she conformed what she already suspected was true: the kids were biological siblings.
“They were meant to find each other, that’s pretty clear. I think God intended that from the beginning. If they weren’t related, Hannah would not have stayed with our family. She would have been placed with other relatives. It was a great thing,” she told Good Morning America.
Page has since learned that their biological mother has had another baby, a five-month-old boy named Jackson and she hopes to adopt him as well.
We’ve all been there—both as parents and personally (even if we don’t remember it): teething. The crying kiddo, the pain, and the fact that you’d do pretty much anything to stop the insanity. But what about those teething necklaces and bracelets your mom friends rave about? Well…about that.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently issued a statement recently issued a warning to parents and caregivers of young children about how teething jewelry—worn by your cranky baby or the caregiver—can actually be potentially dangerous.
How can parents soothe teething pain, anyway? Teething gels aren’t a great solution, either; the FDA notes that benzocaine-containing products (such as gels, sprays or ointments) can lead to a potentially life-threatening condition that reduces the red blood cells’ ability to carry oxygen.
If you can’t use a gel or cream, what can you use? It’s this very question that leads plenty of parents to teething jewelry. Often marketed as a safe, “natural” alternative to other products, these items look like necklaces or bracelets are typically made from amber, marble, silicone or wood.
Following reports of serious injuries and tragically, strangulation deaths, the FDA now cautions parents to avoid teething jewelry altogether. If you think that adult supervision will reduce the risks, think again. According to the FDA, a seven-month-old infant choked on a wooden beaded teething bracelet—while under parental supervision. Luckily, the child was okay following a trip to the hospital.
The new warning from the FDA stresses using alternatives to soothe teething pain—and of course, avoiding teething jewelry. Instead, gently massage your baby’s gums with clean fingers. The American Academy of Pediatrics notes that you can give your kiddo a firm rubber teething ring (but not the frozen kind). Always inspect the teething ring for damage and supervise your child while they’re gumming it.

The due date has finally arrived for the new Hatchimals HatchiBabies and these adorable babies are sure to be one of the most coveted toys this holiday season. Read on for cuteness overload! ‘
HatchiBabies, the newest addition to come from the Hatchery Nursery in Hatchtopia, come in two different species, Ponette and Cheetree. When you hatch your new toy, you are also treated to the surprise of finding out whether you have a boy or a girl. When you’re ready to hatch your new baby, just give the egg a few taps or snuggles. The egg will start to rock and your baby will sing “Rockabye Baby” to let you know it is about to hatch.
One of the most exciting parts of these new HatchiBabies is the accessories that come inside each HatchiBabies egg. For the first time ever, these speckled eggs will come packed with hidden compartments that can be opened after the babies hatch. Inside the compartments you’ll find some fun surprises to help you care for your new baby, like a bottle, hairbrush and rattle.
You’ll also find a mini highchair inside to give your baby a place to sit and be fed. And of course, no birth would be complete without your very own birth certificate.
These baby Hatchimals need of a lot of love and care. Just like a real baby, they need to be fed and burped, but they will also respond to plenty of snuggles and a good tickle. They can also be taught to play baby games, like “find my toes,” and learn their first words.
Every proud parent knows about those adorable moments that you just have to post on IG, FB and everywhere else online. These recent photos of Chip and Joanna Gaines’ son Crew are completely cute, and like your BFF’s baby’s pics, you’re going to want to see each and every one of them.
Gaines recently posted a pic of her super-sweet new baby, hubby Chip and nine-year-old son Duke, captioning it, “Walked into this cuddlefest and my heart almost burst.”
Obviously, this isn’t exactly the first photo of cutey Crew. Back, in January Joanna posted a picture of the ultrasound, adding, “Chip swears he can already tell it’s a boy.”
Not long after baby Crew’s birth, the proud mama Instagrammed a completely cuddly photo of the pair—and with more than 1.9 million likes, it’s pretty clear that everyone enjoyed the sweetness.
Joanna also posted a cute cuddle pic of baby and dad, complete with Chip’s hospital bracelet still visible. With this being their fifth baby, the couple’s tradition of dad wearing the bracelet until it falls off, “lives on.”
Along with plenty of pics that feature mommy, daddy and baby, Joanna didn’t leave out the family’s furry friends. The new mama (for the fifth time) posted a perfectly serene pic of her rocking baby Crew, with their peaceful-looking pup seated patiently by her side.
Having a long gap between babies can feel daunting. Being thrust back into the newborn world of sleepless nights and diapers that were already a distant memory isn’t easy, but getting to experience those precious first moments all over again makes it totally worth it. Joanna Gaines gave birth to her fifth child after an eight-year gap and she’s sharing some inspiring insight about the experience.
“When this baby comes, there is going to be quite the gap,” Joanna recently told PEOPLE. “I feel like those years when the kids were all young, it was so foggy … at one point I had four kids [age] 4 and under, and I just remember it was like tag-team wrestling. Chip and I were trying to figure out how to do this with four kids so young.”
This time around the couple is approaching things a little differently, however. Joanna explained that they really want to take their time and enjoy all those special moments.
“I look at this as another opportunity to really embrace this moment with a newborn,” she said. “My kids are so excited about it … but [I want] to slow it down a bit.” That said, the couple is still hanging on to many of their parenting traditions.
Joanna recently shared a post to Instagram of proud papa Chip holding baby Crew and sporting his hospital wristband, despite already being home. “Chip started a tradition with Drake where he wore the hospital bracelet until it fell off…looks like the tradition lives on. #5,” the caption explains.
Despite wanting to enjoy the fleeting time with her new baby, Joanna has learned that the days don’t all have to so momentous. “The older I get, the more I realize it doesn’t have to be these huge moments where there’s art supplies everywhere and we have to really plan this out,” Joanna said.
“It can be something as simple as drive around with fun music. And so what I love in watching Chip, it inspires me to go beyond my comfort zone and find creative but also simple ways to connect with the kids.”
