Wednesday season 2 is officially underway

Netflix’s creative take on the Addams Family has been a runaway success. Wednesday, a coming-of-age tale directed by Tim Burton following the angsty teen, is one of the most-watched series ever to stream on Netflix. In January 2023, the streamer announced the show was getting a second season and has just released a new video in which members of the cast discuss (and confirm) top fan theories.

The video features Jenna Ortega, Emma Meyers (Enid), Joy Sunday (Bianca), and Hunter Doohan (Tyler) discussing potential plotline theories for season 2, like Crackstone’s ring and whether or not someone will inherit its power, what Eugene might have in store, and whether or not Professor Weems met her end in Episode 8. While the actors admit that most of season two is so top secret that even they don’t know for sure what’s coming, they did confirm one theory about the new season that revolves around the Addams family itself.

“We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore,” said Wednesday Season 1 co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. “We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

Will Christina Ricci reprise her role in Season 2?

In March 2023, when asked whether her character, Marilyn Thornhill, would be returning for a second season, Ricci told Entertainment Tonight, “I don’t think I’m allowed to say… on my end, the door is open. She was so fun to play! It’s always so fun to play a villain.”

Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2 Release Date

While there’s no news on a release date, fans can still learn about the plot theories and maybe rewatch season one to get more ideas before the second season arrives.

In season one, as Wednesday attempted to master her budding psychic powers, the iconic character also aims to “thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body,” per Netflix.

This mother-in-law thinks it’s her son’s wife’s job to remind him about family birthdays, so she asked the internet to weigh in

Another day, another story about a useless man who thinks his wife is automatically his personal chef, maid, secretary, and handler. In today’s edition, we’re heading to the always hilarious-yet-rage-inducing “Am I the A**hole” subreddit, where a woman is asking the internet to weigh in on her fight with her mother-in-law over whose job it is to remember family birthdays.

“My MIL’s birthday was about two months ago. They live on the other side of the country, so it would typically mean a phone call and maybe a birthday card. Well, I guess my husband forgot about it and didn’t call her or send her a card,” she writes. “I found this out because she called and was disappointed that she didn’t hear anything from us. I told her that my husband probably should have put her birthday in his calendar and set a reminder, and that he never does.”

AITA for not reminding my husband about holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc?
byu/Quiet-Guidance inAmItheAsshole

She continues, “She asked me why I didn’t keep track of this stuff for him, because ‘he’s a guy, they don’t care about that stuff.’ She mentioned he’d skipped his sister’s birthday and niece’s and nephew’s birthdays too, and that I should start trying to remind him. And then she said ‘And don’t forget Mother’s Day, either.'”

The wife, who has the patience of a saint, says she’ll talk to her husband. But that’s not good enough for mother-in-law.

“She got annoyed and told me that like it or not, it’s kind of ‘my job’ to keep track of this stuff, because again, guys don’t care,” she says. “I said ‘Well, if he doesn’t care, he doesn’t care. I’m not his mom.'”

To no one’s surprise, husband took his mom’s side.

“He said that we’re a team and that he’s obviously not good at this, so I should step up,” she writes. “I asked him what the release date for a video game he’d been talking about was. He said the exact date. I just looked at him for a minute, and he got pretty defensive and said ‘That’s totally different.'”

Right.

So the wife came up with a great solution: she and her husband would start a shared family calendar with important dates like birthdays entered in, with reminders. That makes sense, right? Except, of course, husband couldn’t be bothered to pull his weight, once again.

“I started the calendar, entered in my dates, and it has been sitting there, unused for the past two months. What happened? He missed another birthday, and the whole thing started again,” the rightfully frustrated wife writes.

So amid this ridiculous war with her husband’s family, she’s asking the internet if she’s the a**hole in the situation. The internet, thankfully, sees reason, and the response is overwhelming: she is not. Obviously.

“I hate this stuff, the mental work load that is automatically assigned to women. You’re his wife, not his secretary. Also nice move with the video game date. A wonderful comeback would have been ‘Oh you’re right, it is different, you actually care about the game,'” one commenter wrote.

Another weighed in, “Send him back to his mother so she can finish raising him.”

This scenario is all-too-common—research shows that in heterosexual marriages, it is virtually always women who do more child-raising, housework, and mental and emotional labor, even when both parents work full-time jobs. And husbands (and MILs) like this one are only perpetuating that problem.

Ginny and Georgia season two finally has a release date—plus everything else we know about the next installment of our favorite mother-daughter dramedy

Ginny and Georgia fans rejoice! Just a few months after the mother-daughter-duo dramedy dropped its second season on Netflix, it’s been announced that the show has been renewed again—for two more seasons!

That’s right—Ginny and Georgia season 3 and 4 are coming. The cast got together in an adorable (and teaser-filled) video to announce the exciting news.

“We are so appreciative of the incredible response and love you all have shown Ginny and Georgia,” creators Debra J. Fisher and Sarah Lampert said in a statement when it was announced last year that the show was renewed for its second season. “We’re especially grateful to Brianne and Toni, who set the highest bar every step of the way. We can’t wait to return to Wellsbury.”

Ginny and Georgia follows free-spirited mom Georgia and her teen daughter Ginny after they moved to a new town in New England. While the pair started the show with a very close relationship, they struggled throughout the first season with learning that each kept secrets from the other. At the end of season one, Ginny learns that her mom had something to do with her stepfather’s death, causing her to flee the town with her younger brother—but we didn’t find out where they went until Season 2 finally premiered earlier this year.

The show’s second season saw much of the main cast return, including Brianne Howey (Georgia), Antonia Gentry (Ginny), Diesel La Torraca (Austin), Scott Porter (Mayor Paul), Jennifer Robertson (Ellen), Sara Waisglass (Max), Felix Mallard (Marcus), Raymond Ablack (Joe), Chelsea Clark (Norah), and Katie Douglas (Abby). Will they all come back for seasons 3 and 4? Based on the reveal video, it seems likely.

In other words, get ready, peaches! We’re heading back to Wellsbury and we couldn’t be more excited.

My Big, Fat Greek Weddin3 finally has a trailer, and we could not be more excited about this movie

Opa! There’s some seriously good news for everyone patiently waiting for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3—the first trailer just dropped. In it, we get our first look at the Portokalos family’s big reunion in Greece.

Aside from the absolutely gorgeous scenery, the sequel promises plenty of throwbacks to the most hilarious moments in the beloved rom-com—like Toula’s giant family greeting even their most distant relative with hugs and cries of “Cousin!” and ̶A̶i̶d̶a̶n̶ ̶S̶h̶a̶w̶ Nick Portcullis getting guff from his Greek elders about not eating meat.

The movie will be coming to theaters on September 8, 2023, per Focus Features.

Last summer, Nia Vardalos posted an Instagram video near The Plaka from her hotel, giving fans the news we’ve been waiting for since the film’s 2016 sequel—that they’d started filming. Vardalos will be playing the film’s lead, Toula Portokalos, as well as directing it.

“We are in Greece filming ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3’ and thank you for all the lovely messages of just waiting,” Vardalos said during the video. “Thank you to Playtone, Gold Circle, HBO and Focus!” Vardalos wrote in the post’s caption. “And much love and gratitude to you all for your support as we waited to film. Greece baby. Greece!”

While the plot is under wraps, Deadline reported that Greece will be the setting for Toula and Ian’s (John Corbett) daughter Paris’ wedding.

The third film is dedicated to Michael Constantine (Toula’s father, Gus) who died in August of 2021. “He had told me he wouldn’t be able to join us for the third film and his wish was that we go on,” Vardalos wrote in an Instagram post last year. “I wrote the screenplay to reflect Michael’s decision and will always treasure his last messages to me, hoping we were filming soon.”

The original film is the highest-grossing romantic comedy ever made and has millions of fans of all ages who are invested in this big Greek family.

If you haven’t yet watched the film (what are you waiting for?), My Big Fat Greek Wedding follows Toula, a single woman who works at the family restaurant and gets constantly bombarded by her family to find a nice Greek man to marry. Of course, this means she actually meets and marries an American teacher (Corbett). Her parents eventually learn to love Portcullis, and the couple marries and has a daughter.

While the second film didn’t do nearly as well as the first, this family is so lovable and endearing that it’s impossible not to root for another film to get a glimpse of their lives today.

Here’s hoping we get more sneak peeks before release day.

Micheal Keaton is returning and Jenna Ortega is officially on board

It’s official. After years of speculation (and hoping), the sequel to Tim Burton’s cult classic film about a pesky poltergeist will return to the big screen. According to Variety, Warner Bros. announced Beetlejuice 2 will hit theaters on Sept. 6th, 2024. Fans will be thrilled to know that Michael Keaton will reprise his iconic role as the title character and Winona Ryder is also slated to return as Lydia Deetz.

New additions to the cast are just as exciting as the original stars, with Wednesday‘s Jenna Ortega slated to play Lydia’s daughter, and Justin Theroux in a (so far) unknown role. The first film revolves around Lydia’s family being haunted by a young deceased married couple (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin), and since we know Lydia is back, we’re left wondering—who else might return?

What Else Do We Know About Beetlejuice 2?

While Burton and Keaton have been dropping hints for years, this is the first official announcement from the film studio. We don’t know much else about the sequel, other than filming will commence in London on May 10th, that Tim Burton is at the helm of the second film, and that the movie is being produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company.

Original composer Danny Elfman also hinted at a return when he told Deadline earlier this month: “I love being a fly on the wall when he’s shooting. I’ll be doing that in a couple of months, as you may know, on another Tim Burton project.”

The final season trailer for Netflix’s Never Have I Ever is here, and it hints at an action-packed senior year for Devi

Never Have I Ever fans, it’s time for one last year with Devi and the crew. The hit Netflix show is about to enter its fourth season, which it has also been announced as its last. For anyone who’s dying to see how this story wraps up, Netflix just dropped the final, full-length trailer before the last episodes hit the streamer—and it looks like it’s going to be a satisfying ending for everyone who’s been following Devi since freshman year.

The new trailer picks up where Season 3 left off: Right after Devi and Ben finally decided to, ahem, do the deed. And then, well, hijinks ensue.

This season shows Devi and her crew getting ready for graduation and college, including the end of Devi’s four-year quest to get into Princeton. But it also shows them dealing with equally important high school issues, like friendships, family dynamics, and, of course, boys. Devi is navigating the fallout (and her feelings) after hooking up with Ben, and there’s also a hot new guy at school. Oh, and Paxton is back—though the trailer doesn’t reveal why. Guess we’ll learn why soon enough!

Last month, Netflix dropped a short teaser trailer that announced the date the final season will air: June 8. The date announcement starts, of course, with a voiceover by John McEnroe, who describes Devi as “an Ivy League-chasing horn dog from Sherman Oaks, California.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

The date announcement trailer didn’t give away a lot of plot details, but it did reveal one important thing: a scene of the new guy and Devi sharing a kiss. Guess we’re all just going to have to watch to learn more—and to see if he’s Devi’s endgame or if that honor goes to Ben. Or Paxton. Or someone else entirely.

Even though fans have fallen in love with Never Have I Ever, the plan was always for it to end after four seasons.

“Four seasons for a high school show felt like it made sense,” co-creator Mindy Kaling told reporters last year. “They can’t be in high school forever. We’ve seen those shows. Like, you’ve been in high school for 12 years. What is going on here? Also, the actors get older, and it starts looking insane that a 34-year-old is playing a 15-year-old.”

The fourth and final season of Never Have I Ever streams on Netflix on June 8.

The final half of this ‘supersized season’ of ‘Firefly Lane’ will kick off on April 27

Firefly Lane first hit Netflix in February 2021, taking viewers on an emotional rollercoaster during its ten-episode run. And in just that short time, the show, which follows friends Tully and Kate (Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke, respectively) through different chapters of their life and friendship, has garnered millions of fans.

Fans learned late last year that the second season of Firefly Lane will be the series’ last, and we’ve been anxiously awaiting the final episodes ever since. Sensing our impatience, Netflix just released the Season 2, Part 2 trailer—and if you can get through it without crying you just might be dead inside:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uYaOfa0uP6c

The trailer opens with Tully wistfully stating that she hasn’t been the same since she “lost her best friend.” To clarify, she explains that Kate is still alive and “probably great” but that they’ve stopped speaking. However, we soon learn that Kate has been struggling to stay strong after a breast cancer diagnosis and that she might not be doing as well as Tully assumes.

The trailer takes you back in time, and we see the pair in happier times celebrating Tully’s TV show and Kate’s engagement. But it’s not all peaches and cream in the present, where the former friends’ mothers have to step in to bring them back together in Kate’s time of need. “What took you so long?” is what Kate asks Tully when they finally reunite. Cue the tears.

Part 2 will launch on April 27, 2023. The streamer also released some first-look photos of the upcoming season. If you need a refresher on what happened in the first half of season 2, you can check out the Part 1 trailer here:

Based on author Kristin Hannah’s book, Firefly Lane follows the pair from the time they meet as teens in the ’70s to the present day, and touches on some pretty important topics, like love, divorce, sexual assault, miscarriage, and careers.

Tully is the sassy, headstrong character that comes from a broken home, and Kate, the total opposite: a sweet, shy woman who often finds herself in Tully’s shadow. Tully ends up a famous talk show host while Kate enters back into the workforce after having a child.

You have a month to get yourself caught up before the final episodes kick off on April 27.

Paint is a good date night movie.
IFC Films

This is sadly not a Bob Ross biopic, but Owen Wilson channels everyone’s favorite public television painter for his role in Paint. It’s a fictional comedy about Carl Nagle, a painter with a public television show who is worried when a younger, cooler painter starts to steal his spotlight. The movie is not based on any of Ross’ real-life experiences, but it’s clearly inspired by him, and because of that, we’re all in.  April 7

Sweetwater

Sweetwater is the story of Hall of Famer Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, who made history as the first Black basketball player to sign an NBA contract. He was the star player for the Harlem Globetrotters at the time. It stars Everett Osborne as Clifton, Jeremy Piven, Cary Elwes, and Richard Dreyfuss.  April 14

Indiana Jones & the Dial of Destiny

Who didn’t grow up with Indiana Jones? And who doesn’t want to see Harrison Ford revising his role as Jones for the first time since 2008? This is the first installment of the franchise not directed by Steven Spielberg and also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Antonio Banderas.  June 30

Mission: Impossible, Dead Reckoning

Paramount Pictures

Tom Cruise has been playing Ethan Hunt, a member of a fictional spy agency called Mission Force, since 1996. 1996! His role kicked off a franchise lasting almost three decades, and 2023 sees the seventh installment of the franchise hitting the screen, with Hunt no doubt jumping off cliffs while keeping the world safe. There is reportedly a stunt in the upcoming film that involves riding a motorcycle off a cliff in Switzerland, then turning into a base jump. The footage above proves it.  July 14

Oppenheimer

Cillian Murphy stars as Robert J. Oppenheimer in this biopic about the physicist and “father of the atomic bomb.” The star-packed cast includes Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Rami Malek, and Josh Hartnett. Directed by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Memento).  July 21

Barbie

Barbie is a good date night movie.
Warner Bros.

This trailer looks like a pink fever dream, and we are so here for it. Margot Robbie plays Barbie and Ryan Gosling is cast as her beau, Ken. The film’s supporting cast includes more exciting actors, including Issa Rae, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, and everyone’s favorite Marvel superhero, Simu Liu, in yet-to-be-revealed roles.  July 21

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3

The plot has been largely under wraps, but Deadline reported that Greece is the setting for Toula and Ian’s (John Corbett) daughter Paris’ wedding. The third film is dedicated to Michael Constantine (Toula’s father, Gus), who died in August 2021. It won’t be the same without Gus running around with his bottle of beloved Windex, but we can’t wait to see the sparks between Vardalos and Corbett again.  September 8

The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

The fourth installment of the franchise focuses on a young Coriolanus Snow (originally played by Donald Sutherland). It follows Snow’s involvement in the games and is set 64 years before the events in the original series—which means Jennifer Lawrence won’t be reprising her role as Katniss Everdeen.  November 17

Wonka

Warner Bros.

It’s about time we got an origin story for the most famously devious chocolatier of all time. Timothée Chalamet will play a young Willy Wonka, and we’ll reportedly see how he crossed paths with the Ooompa Loompas and ended up with his impressively creepy factory. Also starring Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, and Keegan-Michael Key.  December 15

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Apparently, during the filming of the first Aquaman, Jason Momoa developed a story pitch for a sequel, and thanks to the huge success of the movie, it was greenlighted. Momoa is set to return to the big screen on the biggest movie day of the year, with Amber Heard as Mera and Ben Affleck reprising his role as Batman. “When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation.” Hopefully, the sequel will be just as jam-packed with slow-motion scenes of Aquaman emerging from the sea.  December 25

Legally Blonde 3

Reese Witherspoon will reprise her role as Elle Woods, and thank goodness, because who else could do this? The 2001 release brought us our favorite horoscope-obsessed, vegetarian law student who refused to let tired stereotypes and a remarkable jerk of an ex-boyfriend stand in her way of becoming a power lawyer. There’s no official release date yet, but the MGM site still says, “coming in 2023.”  TBD

Get ready to binge season 7

It seems like only yesterday we were flipping out over the new trailer for season six of Workin’ Moms on Netflix. The show officially wrapped in September, not only for season seven but for the series as well. CBC fans have already been able to see the season—it premiered on CBC in early January. Netflix fans will be thrilled to hear that the network just announced that the seventh and final season will drop on April 26.

In June 2022, creator, executive producer and star Catherine Reitman announced the show was officially coming to an end.

In a press release, Reitman remarked: “To our incredible fans, making this show has been the ride of my life. Philip and I hit the ground, day one of season one, with a three-month-old and a two-year-old, watching as we pressed forward on one mission: to tell the stories of four flawed mothers, who dared to be something beyond their nurseries. Going to work every day, whether in the room with our brilliant writers, on set with our extraordinary cast or in post with the best producing team in the business, has cemented in me the importance of telling stories that have meaning, surrounded by artisans who get it.”

“But like any story, there must be an ending. And so, it is with love and gratitude that I’m announcing season seven as our final season. The biggest thank you to our partners, CBC and Netflix, for getting behind a show that points a flashlight into the darkest corners of motherhood. To those of you who’ve stopped me on the street, to share your love of the show—I see you. I hear you. And I thank you. Go get ’em mamas…”

Workin’ Moms Season 7 Plot

Per the release, season seven “will see the women confront demons from their past in order to move forward into their future… As we bid farewell to Kate, Anne, Sloane, Jenny, and Val, it’s up to each of them to decide the impact they’ll leave with their work, the traits they’ll pass on to their children, and ultimately, how much more sh*t they’re willing to take as workin’ moms.”

If you weren’t already familiar, the hit mom-com, which airs on Canadian network CBC before making its way to Netflix, follows Toronto moms as they navigate motherhood, maternity leave, relationships and being a professional. To get an idea of what you’re in for, you can check out the season six trailer below. (Full disclosure: It’s for mature audiences so make sure there are no little eyes and ears in the room when you click “play!”)

Developed by Black-ish star Reitman and based on her own experiences as a working mom, the show delves right into some of the more hilarious aspects of motherhood: baby yoga, those blasted baby strollers and dealing with the hilarious devastation of spilled breast milk. But that was just the beginning.

As the kids have grown over the last six seasons, so do the moms and their scenarios. For all its hilarity, the show still manages to touch on some serious and all-too-real topics, like postpartum depression, post-baby relationship struggles and the drive to be a successful career woman and a mom—all at the same time. It handles these topics with honesty and grace and makes it totally binge-worthy.

Workin’ Moms Season 7 Cast

Season seven sees the return of Dani Kind as Anne, Jessalyn Wanlim as Jenny, Philip Sternberg as Nathan, Ryan Belleville as Lionel, Sarah McVie as Val, Sadie Munroe as Alice, Peter Keleghan as Richard, Nikki Duval as Rosie and Enuka Okuma as Sloane Mitchell.

Workin’ Moms Season 7 Release Date

CBC’s Workin’ Moms is available in its entirety (seasons 1-6 at least) on Netflix. Season seven premiered on CBC and CBC Gem in January 2023, and its global premiere on Netflix is on April 26th, 2023.
