Here’s How to Get One from Krispy Kreme Think back around a month or so before the massive romaine lettuce recall. You may remember the ground beef recall issued on Oct. 4. (No, not that ground beef recall—the other ground beef recall.) Well now the USDA’s Food and Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) has added more than 5 million more pounds of raw beef products produced by JBS Tolleson, Inc. to the list. Representatives from JBS Tolleson did not immediately return Red Tricycle’s request for comment. The initial recall included 6.5 million pounds of raw, non-intact beef products due to Salmonella concerns—including meat items sold under the brand names Cedar River Farms Natural Beef, Walmart, Showcase, Showcase/Walmart and JBS Generic. During their investigation, USDA and CDC confirmed 57 cases of Salmonella in 16 states. OUTBREAK UPDATE: 5 million more pounds of ground beef products recalled. Check your freezer for ground beef labeled “EST. 267,” usually found inside USDA mark of inspection, and return to store or throw it away. https://t.co/PaMD880q2z pic.twitter.com/K97gecqm8g — USDA Food Safety & Inspection Service (@USDAFoodSafety) December 4, 2018 Following the Oct. 4 recall, the USDA and CDC revised the confirmed cases to include 246 affected consumers across 25 states, with illness onset ranging from Aug. 5 to Oct. 16, 2018. The recalled beef’s packaging is marked with the establishment number “EST. 267” inside of the USDA mark of inspection. The raw meat (which includes ground beef and other products) was packaged from Jul. 26 through Sep. 7. Keep in mind, these are the packaging dates, and not the “use by” dates. The USDA recommends that consumers check their fridges and freezers for the affected products. You can access the FSIS’s full recall list here. If you have the recalled meat DO NOT eat it. Either throw away the meat or take it back to the place of purchase. Have questions or concerns about this recall expansion?
