The Morning Show season 3 is almost halfway done filming already

Fans of The Morning Show rejoice! Lead actress Jennifer Aniston recently shared a sneak peek into filming season three and it looks every bit as dramatic as what we’ve seen so far.

After a successful first two seasons, Alex Levy is back––but we’re not sure just what she has in store for us. So far, there has been no official trailer, debut date or plot revealed but that doesn’t mean we can’t revel in some behind-the-scene photos from the Apple TV+ show.

In her Instagram post, Aniston shared several images that include a photo of herself donning a helmet and goggles, pup Benny learning some tricks and among them a funny video on the topic of self tanning.

“Note to self, hands and feet you must lotion before a spray tan, otherwise… a situation,” she says. Then she turns to her friend to say, “This is what love is.” Fans are then treated to the sights and sounds of Aniston getting her feet scrubbed in a sink. We’ve all been there!

The post even caught co-star Reese Witherspoon off-guard, and she commented “Wait … are we really??? 🤪”

All the photos have us excited for what’s to come when The Morning Show returns to Apple TV+ next year. While we’re still waiting on details, The Huffington Post confirms that Jon Hamm is joining the cast.

He will play corporate tycoon Paul Marks, who has his eyes on the UBA News TV network. Returning for season three is Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Greta Lee, Nestor Carbonell, Marcia Gay Harden, Julianna Margulies and more.

While we wait for more details and a debut date for The Morning Show season three, you can catch up with all the drama on seasons one and two on Apple TV+.

With baseball season well underway, Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television are getting in on the action. The pair has finally dropped the official trailer for the upcoming series, A League of Their Own! The show, which is a spin-off more than a reboot of Penny Marshall’s classic 1992 film, starts with the 1943 formation of a women’s baseball league and pulls in viewers thanks to lovable characters who dream of playing professionally.

“The show takes a deeper look at race and sexuality, following the journey of a whole new ensemble of characters as they carve their own paths towards the field, both in the league and outside of it,” according to Amazon. While the show will focus on entirely new characters who play for the Rockford Peaches, there have been rumors that OG actors may make an appearance (Rosie O’Donnell for sure).

The series is produced by Abbi Jacobson and Will Graham, and the new direction was very intentional. “[Mamie Johnson] was one of the first and only Black women to play in the male Negro leagues professionally,” Jacobson shared with Hollywood Reporter. “When Will and I started talking about the ways in which we wanted to do our version, that felt more real, nuanced and gritty and [a way to] incorporate more women’s stories.”

Jane Austen fans, rejoice. Come July, you’ll be able to watch a Netflix adaptation of Austen’s novel, Persuasion, starring Dakota Johnson and a cast of other fan favorites.

According to the official trailer, this version shows Johnson’s character and favorite Austen heroine Anne Elliot “living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy.” Elliot is “an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities,” but when Frederick Wentworth, “the dashing one she once sent away, crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances.” Is it possible to love period dramas any more?

After 2020’s Emma, countless adaptions of Pride and Prejudice, and the popularity of Sense and Sensibility, Austen is in demand, and based on the buzz for Persuasion, this adaptation will deliver.

Captain Wentworth will be played by Cosmo Jarvis (Peaky Blinders) and Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) is slated to play Mr. Elliot, “the callous and classic Austen foil.” Other cast members include Richard E. Grant, Edward Bluemel, Lydia Rose Bewley, Suki Waterhouse, Ben Bailey Smith, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Izuka Hoyle, Yolanda Kettle, and Nia Towle.

“Persuasion was so fun,” Johnson told Vogue earlier this year. “Doing a Jane Austen film is the dream, and there are only a few of them so I feel incredibly lucky. The cast is amazing, and our director, Carrie Cracknell, is fantastic.”

The drama was filmed in Bath, England last spring, which is fitting given Austen herself lived there for many years.

“With period pieces, I’m always interested in there being a connection between then and now,” director Carrie Cracknell told Town&Country. “I think period films often teach you as much about the moment they were made in as they do the moment that they’re replicating, somehow.”

For her part, Johnson was thrilled to be cast as Elliot. “I was drawn to the occasionally modernized language and themes, breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to the audience, and the fact that a strong-willed woman remains as much a topic of discussion these days as it was then,” Johnson said.

You’re gonna want to put this one in your calendar. Persuasion will be available on Netflix on July 15, 2022.

The summer just got more despicable! Illumination just dropped the official 3rd trailer for the long-awaited origin story of Gru and it’s everything we’ve been waiting for and more.

Minions: The Rise of Gru finally gives us the backstory to how Gru become the lovable villain we’ve been watching for years. Not only that, it follows how his yellow, not-so-smart sidekicks, the Minions, help get him there.

The story follows a 12-year-old Gru living in 1970’s suburbia, when he hooks up with Bob, Kevin, Stuart and newcomer Otto. The new gang takes Gru’s plot to take over the world to the next level, building a lair, fashioning weapons and hatching plans.

When his favorite group of villains, the Vicious 6 kicks out Wild Knuckles (voiced by Alan Arkin), Gru sees his opportunity to join his favorite gang. The only problem? They want nothing to do with the tiny boss––until he outsmarts them and then becomes their target.

With Gru on the run trying to avoid the Vicious 6, the Minions seek out help to learn kung fu in order to save him. Accompanied by a can’t miss 70’s soundtrack, this film is predicted to be just as entertaining for parents as it is kids.

Minions: The Rise of Gru brings tons of new voices to the table that adults will recognize. Taraji P. Henson is Belle Bottom, Jean-Claude Van Damme is Jean Clawed, Lucy Lawless is Nunchuck, Dolph Lundgren is Swedish roller-skate champion Svengeance and Danny Trejo plays Stronghold. Each one boasts somewhat hilarious super powers, like giant iron hands and robotic claws.

Returning to the film is of course Steve Carell, Russell Brand and Julie Andrews, who voices Gru’s somewhat unlovable mother. You’ll have to wait a little bit longer to get your fill of the Minions. The Rise of Gru will debut in theaters on Jul. 1.

Emmy-winning actor Billy Porter is making his directorial debut with a film about a trans high school senior navigating friends, family, and new love.

Porter is best known for his work as Pray Tell on Pose and most recently as the fairy godmother in Amazon’s musical movie Cinderella. But he’s stepping behind the camera to put the spotlight on a “delightfully modern coming-of-age story” titled Anything’s Possible.

The official trailer shows trans senior Kelsa (Eva Reign), who is navigating her first boyfriend, Khal (Katy Keene actor Abubakr Ali), her family, and her final year of high school.

“When her classmate Khal gets a crush on her, he musters up the courage to ask her out, despite the drama he knows it could cause,” the trailer’s description reads. “What transpires is a romance that showcases the joy, tenderness, and pain of young love.”

“I ain’t Barbra Streisand yet,” Porter told Variety. “It’s like, let me do one thing at a time. Let me direct something first. Then I’ll direct something and be in it, too.”

He continued: “This is an aspirational story. It’s almost like a fairytale,” Porter says. “We know that. It’s a look at what we can be. That’s what we as artists get to do—look at what we can be and what we should be.”

For her part, the actress shared information about the film on Instagram, writing “Hey y’all, meet Kelsa. Check out these first-look images from #AnythingsPossible, the movie I’m starring in. I am so honored to help tell this story. There’s so much to say, but for now, I’ll just reiterate how excited I am for you all to see this beautiful story unfold!”

Talking with Them earlier this year, Reign said of the film, “It’s ironic: The movie’s called Anything’s Possible, but I didn’t believe it. My whole life, I’d wanted to be an actress, but even after I got that call I was telling myself, ‘I’m a Black trans girl—I’m not going to be the lead in a movie. That’s not feasible. I’ll be lucky to play someone’s friend.’”

Anything’s Possible will be available on Prime Video on July 22.

The Marvel universe is finally getting a new Thor installment! The last time we saw the God of Thunder, the once-ripped superhero was carrying a little extra weight after losing his home planet Asgard and indulging in too much ale. After saving the universe in Avengers: Endgame, the hammer-wielding specimen took off with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Now he’s back.

In the trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, our hero appears to go on a journey of self-discovery, during which he puts down his new hammer (Stormbreaker) and sets out to uncover his old physique and find peace and purpose in life.

Unlike the first teaser trailer, this version gives a much deeper look at the upcoming film. Clearly, Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman) has returned for the fourth film and has hammer-wielding power! Fans will notice that it’s not just any hammer, but Thor’s OG version, Mjolnir.

We also get a good look at the grotesque and terrifying villain, Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale. Despite being on sabbatical, Thor rouses support from King Valkyrie, Korg and Jane to stop Gorr, who seeks the extinction of the gods. Also amid the story is the group’s journey to find out what motivation lies behind Gorr’s hatred of the gods.

Many of the film franchise’s actors are returning for the film, including Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Jaimie Alexander, Sean Gunn and Jeff Goldblum. It’s also been noted that Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone will make cameo appearances.

Thor: Love and Thunder is the first time Natalie Portman will return to the Marvel universe since 2013. The film’s director, Taika Waititi, personally convinced her to come back after a previous decision to leave over directorial changes, according to Variety.

The film will be released in theaters on July 8.

Sesame Street has a new animated spinoff called Mecha Builders featuring Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby as “robot heroes-in-training using STEM superpowers to solve larger-than-life problems!” Mecha Builders premiers May 9th on Cartoon Network and streams the following day on HBOMax. For those of you who grew up in the 90’s, Tokusatsu, or Toku, is a genre of Japanese movies and television that feature superheroes (or mecha). Think of it as Power Rangers meets muppets, and you’ll get why this is big news for multiple generations.

Much like the Power Rangers (Earth’s Defenders Never Surrender!), Sesame Street‘s tokusatsu adaptation features superpower-clad characters—really, really cute characters—who will stop at nothing to fix problems. Again, if you were born or grew up in the 90’s, you might be humming a refrain from Vanilla Ice right now. If you’ve got a problem yo I’ll solve it…  But we digress.

Mecha Elmo, Mecha Cookie and Mecha Abby apply their superhero powers of problem solving and science, technology, engineering and math know-how to figure out all sorts of challenges in this spinoff.  There’s no problem too small or too big for this crew. It appears that in addition to their deductive reasoning, the mechas also have the ability to shrink or enlarge objects. In the official trailer, it appears that they’ve used their powers for good—making a giant pie in the sky—and not for evil.

Don’t be disarmed, however. As in all good Toku, Mecha Builders will have to face off seemingly unsurmountable challenges. Giant rolling boulders are also teased in the trailer, so brace yourself for some conflict… a la Sesame Street.

As expected, fans of Toku are all abuzz with the news of the new spinoff, looking for hints of the Sesame Street Mecha Builder‘s character powers. The extended theme song recently released “with mechanical powers there’s nothing they cannot solve” hints at some exciting gadgetry for each of the mechas. “The Mecha Builders are always ready to save the day, and while they may not get it right the first time, they won’t give up until they do! There’s no problem too big or too small for this super team to solve … all before snack time.”

Growing up is no joke, and it’s even worse when you “poof” into a giant red panda when you get too excited. Disney and Pixar’s newest leading lady Mei Lin in Turning Red is already dealing with changes in her interests, relationships and body; now she’s got to navigate this newest quandary in a hilarious and relatable way.

The movie is streaming on Disney+ today. “Turning Red is as hilarious as it is poignant, and it features beautiful animation along with some terrific voice acting from a diverse cast,” writes The Ringer in its review. “Perhaps above all, though, the movie is fearless in its approach to focusing the story on a young Chinese Canadian girl and her three best friends as they transition into puberty, covering everything from periods to a sudden interest in boys.”

“The goal wasn’t just to stylize it for the sake of stylization,” producer Lindsay Collins told Wired. “Since our character is a 13-year-old Asian girl, it was important for us to put that lens on when we were designing the world.”

From Mei’s die-hard friends to her overbearing mom (voiced by Sandra Oh), Mei is about to set on a journey of finding herself in this hilarious flick from Disney and Pixar.

The best news? Turning Red is actually debuting in homes in lieu of the theaters on Mar. 11. Make sure you have Disney+ because it will be the sole spot to watch Mei and all her poof-tastic magic.
