Los Angeles is known for its wide variety of delicious sweets, making it an ideal destination for candy lovers. From classic candy shops to more modern ones, here are some of the best candy stores in Los Angeles.

The Best Candy Stores in Los Angeles

Compartès Chocolate

Made in Los Angeles, 70-year old gourmet chocolatier Compartès makes their decadent, wildly inventive chocolate bars and truffles from scratch daily, sourced from local farmers markets. Be warned though—choosing a chocolate bar for yourself may be the hardest decision you make for the day—from Matcha Green Tea White Chocolate to Avocado Chocolate, it's almost impossible to choose just one (let alone when they have limited editions like the Donuts & Coffee Milk Chocolate Bar available). For kids? We're pretty sure the Cereal Bowl Chocolate Bar reigns supreme. These bars really feel like a gift as their wrapping is stunning—almost too pretty to unwrap.

Fugetsu-Do

Apart from Fugetsu-Do's beautiful confections, it boasts quite possibly the most incredible immigrant origin story of any candy shop in town. The Kito family-run business opened in 1903 and ran until the World War II-era Executive Order sent Japanese-Americans to internment camps in 1942. The Kitos were sent to a camp in Wyoming, where the owner made mochi for his fellow detainees with their donated sugar rations. As soon as they were released, the Kitos returned to their original location on First St. and worked to buy back their shop and baking machinery, sleeping in a temple in the interim. Today, nearly 120 years later, the store is run by his son, 3rd generation master wagashi confectioner Brian Kito!

Fugetsu-Do has a mochi (rice cake candy) or a manju (sweet bean-filled rice cake candy) for every palate: plum-shaped steamed mochi, rainbow-decorated dango, and strawberry-flavored mochi with peanut butter filling, among others. And yes—for the Valentine purists, there is even a chocolate-flavored mochi filled with chocolate ganache!

Good to Know: You can sample the many types of mochi and manju at their Little Tokyo store daily, find them in limited quantities at local markets (Marukai, Mitsuwa, Nijiya, Tokyo Central, Tokyo Fish Market, and Uwajimayaor) or order online from japansuper.com

Galco's Soda Pop Stop

Another shop operating in Los Angeles for over 100 years, Galco's Soda Pop Stop had humble beginnings as a Highland Park Italian grocery store. Today, it boasts over 600 types of sodas, beers from around the world, specialty wine and champagne, and of course, something for the little ones—a vintage candy corner! Show your kids your favorite sweets from your childhood and help them discover Pop Rocks, Candy Buttons, Wax Lips, and more. There's even a retro toy corner for the tots!

Good to Know: Don't miss their Soda Creation Station, where your kids can make their very own soda pop—selecting between 100 different syrup options.

Jack's Candy

Planning on going a little wild, candy-wise? Look no further than Jack's Candy Store. From floor-to-ceiling there are stacks of every candy and treat you can imagine in this downtown warehouse. You can shop by brand, color, and theme, making planning a snap. Grab a piñata while you're there and stock up on sweets and gifts for the next birthday party.

Good to Know: There's a free customer parking lot, so it's a cinch to haul your loot back to the car.

777 S. Central Ave.

Sockerbit

Sockerbit, located near the Old Farmer's Market and The Grove, is a shop for the gummy-lovers, pure and simple. Sockerbit loosely translates into "sugar cube" in Swedish, which is also the namesake for one of their most popular candies (besides the Swedish fish of course)—a little square of homemade marshmallow that comes in pink or white.

7922 West 3rd St.
Los Angeles

Munchies

Munchies has the largest selection of Kosher candy in the city, from chocolate and gummies to lollipops and truffles. But whether you keep Kosher or not, you'll want to drop in for their biggest claim to fame: the largest selection of Gimbal's jelly beans this side of San Francisco. Niche, but 100% necessary.

Good to Know: Don't miss their chocolate dipped bananas covered in almond brittle.

The new year is the perfect time to dust off old traditions, or to begin new ones with your family. For us, it’s a nostalgic Friday night “family night” piled on the couch streaming a movie or series with your siblings, parents and a giant bowl of freshly popped popcorn.

In today’s world you could be finished with the popcorn before the family even decides what to stream. Decision fatigue is real.

That’s why we’re here with a round up of must-see content the whole family will love, all found only on Disney+. We’re sharing our favorite movies and series from action and adventure, to humorous and heartfelt.

Now, if only we could reach out to hug the brilliant creative minds who make these stories just as entertaining and enjoyable for us, as they do for our kiddos.

Looking for a way to keep this tradition alive after January’s round up? We’ve got just the idea – The Family Night Disney+ Bowl.

Here’s how it works: Ask everyone in your family to write down a few of their favorite titles on Disney+ and drop it in the bowl. Each “family night”, a different family member takes turns picking out a title from the bowl and cozies up for a viewing party.

Start your family night traditions with amazing content, found only on Disney+.

5 Picks To Kick-Off Your Family Night Viewing Tradition:

Shorts to Warm Your Heart & Make You Laugh:

“I Am Groot”

Your family might recognize this lovable little tree, Groot, from his first appearance in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). Now he’s back in a collection of five Original shorts introducing a cast of new and unusual characters, all bound to entertain the entire family.

Voiced by Vin Diesel, your family will be charmed by Groot’s childlike expressions, as well as his mischievous flare!

With 16 total episodes in Season 2, released weekly, you’ve got the family night viewing hour covered for a while.

“Zootopia+”

It’s about time we got invited back to the fast-paced mammal metropolis of Zootopia. In this short-form series, we get the chance to dive deeper into the colorful lives of some of the Oscar®-winning feature film’s most intriguing residents, including Fru Fru, the fashion-forward arctic shrew.

Most Loved Movies Only on Disney+:

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules”

We’re always on board to see more of this family-favorite character. This new animated movie is based on the second book in Jeff Kinney’s wildly popular book series, focusing on the rocky dynamic of our protagonist, middle schooler Greg Heffley, and his spikey-haired high school brother Rodrick. Teaser – Rodrick is lazy and undisciplined, and spends way too much time practicing with his rock band, Löded Diper. While he loves to torment Greg, we get to see his soft side and deep affection for his younger brother reveal itself throughout the movie.

“The Biggest Little Farm, The Return”

The Chester family and all of the lovable characters on their farm (human and animal) are back on our screens after enormous praise and adoration of their 2018 award-winning documentary. We get to be virtual visitors again on their property at Apricot Lane Farms as they navigate the challenging and beautiful symbiotic relationship between land and animals. New characters of note – Emma the pig who welcomes her newest litter and an adorable lamb named Moe who befriends the family.

2023 is already looking great with these bright winter outfits!

Although winter is in full-swing, that doesn’t mean we have to settle for dark hues and neutral tones all season (not that we don’t love those!). We’re betting if you opened your closet right now, you’d see a ton of classic black. It goes with everything, of course, so we’re not judging. In fact, that’s usually how we roll during the chilly months. Even our kiddos’ wardrobes are full of dark jeans, solid sweats, and basic graphic tee and hoodies. As busy parents, those mix-and-match items typically make the most sense. But our all-solid neutrals and the little ones’ usual leggings-and-a-tee looks can actually start to impact our overall winter mood. Why not add some bright winter outfits to your rotation?

There’s absolutely no rule that says you can’t rock bright colors in the cold months. It’s actually a quintessentially British fashion choice, to wear bold splashes when it’s dark and grey out. Considering the gorgeous saturated hues that fill the British-based Boden collection, that’s a trend that even us non-Brits are falling in love with.

We’ve decided to start 2023 in style with fresh colors. We’re making sure the new year is bright, and we’re embracing some staple colors from Boden to keep the whole family sporting good-for-the-mood hues. Since color has a direct impact on our whole attitude, we’re sure that these bright winter outfits are going to keep our vibes high. Which ones will you bring with you into the new year?

Bonus: If these hot colors put you in a good mood, Boden’s End of Season Sale is the icing on the cake! Take up to 60% off with code USES from 12/23-01/08.

Winter Orange

According to color expert and consultant Kate Smith, orange creates one of the strongest physical effects of any color. It stimulates the appetite, increases energy level, and boosts the metabolism. It's easy to feel low-energy and drained when it cold outside, so this energizing hue is an easy choice to reach for this season!

Get ready to see Viva Magenta everywhere. We’re not mad about it.

In case you missed it, Pantone named the 2023 Color of the Year. We’ve been rocking Veri Peri, a blue-violet shade that we’re betting you’ve been seeing these past 12 months, but with 2022 coming to a close, we’re leaning into our new color obsession for ’23: Viva Magenta. Even just saying it is enough to get us excited.

What is Viva Magenta? According to Pantone, it’s “a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength. [It] is brave and fearless, a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative.” How can we not be totally inspired?

This juicy pigment gives bold and rebellious vibes, but without being too harsh. According to Pantone, the color psychology embodies confidence, grace, and humanity. It also encourages us to remember that we never know what our family, friends, or strangers are going through, and to show up with empathy and compassion. We have zero argument with that.

You don’t have to just wear Viva Magenta, either! We have more than 50 ways to bring this good-mood hue into your life.

3 Asian Food Recipes Your Kids Will Love

If you’ve ever spent any time with a toddler, you know how much wear and tear they put on their clothes. Between the sticky spills, muddy falls and enthusiastic way they often mistake their t-shirts for paper (thank the Lord for washable markers!), it’s amazing they ever get more than one wear out of anything they own.

So when you find toddler clothes that not only look great but last, too, it’s something to get excited about. And when they’re made by moms, you just have to share. Here are some of our favorite mom-made clothing brands that we think you (and your kiddos) will love.

Beet World

For parents who love timeless clothes that still feel fresh and modern (think Laura Ingalls Wilder meets the 21st century), there's Beet World. Each piece starts with nature-inspired prints, colors and patterns on soft, natural fabrics. The final product is playful tops, bottoms and rompers that are just as comfortable on the playground as they are for a special occasion. For fans of giving back, it’s great to know that Beet World contributes to charities that empower women and kids, and works to take care of our planet.

It’s hard to go wrong with the Molly dress when the weather’s warm, and the playful Summer Bloom tiered skirt is always a twirly hit with kids.

Online: beet-world.com

Mochi Kids

If graphic tees with kawaii-cute neutral designs are what you’re after, you can find them at Mochi Kids, a rad company started by a mom of three. Each hand-screen printed design features playful characters that are just as charming to kids as they are to parents. Sushi, donuts and a sweet worm with a big personality will surely win over their hearts—and yours.

The Kawaii Donut Baseball tee captures the spirit of kiddom, while the Number tees are great for birthdays or family photo ops.

Online: mochikids.com

Posh Peanut

With unique patterns that capture your tot’s personality and soft fabrics that remind you of those snuggly, bygone baby days, Posh Peanut is the place to find silky bamboo fabric rompers, dresses and pajamas. Started by mom-to-two Fiona Sahakian, the brand combines practicality with stylish designs so your little one can be as fashion-forward as you are.

Soft, breathable pajamas will keep your kids sleeping through the night. We’re fans of the Fiona and Flint patterns.

Online: poshpeanut.com

Miles and Milan

It turns out toddler fashion doesn’t have to be complicated. Miles and Milan prove it with their simple black, white and grey-colored tees and pants that blend simple design elements with comfort so your toddler can run, skip and jump through the day in comfort. These extra-soft pieces were made for play; test-run them at your local playground (we swear they’ll hold up). However you mix and match these monochromatic-minded pieces, they always look good together.

The signature Happy Tee will make every kid smile, especially when paired with the Quin jogger.

Online: milesandmilan.com

Little Lark

At the intersection of nature and science, you'll find cute kid tees from Little Lark. Each one brings a playful and inspired angle to the natural elements featured on the shirts—whether it's a solar eclipse, an elusive fox or an erupting volcano. The patterns are printed on organic cotton shirts that are easy to mix and match with pants you already have. The fact that some are glittery metallics? That's just a toddler bonus.

We’re crushing on the not-so-matchy-matchy Mommy and Me Hemlock Tree tees.

Online: etsy.com/shop/alittlelark

Bash + Sass

Because kids love characters and parents love raising great kids, there’s Bash + Sass, a kids clothing brand focused on minimalist design and promoting important social values. While we love the thoughtful design of each piece—parents will find some truly intriguing cuts and gorgeous gender-neutral naturals here—we might love the monster characters a bit more. Each collection features a different cute companion who embodies a particular social value (think: spontaneity, confidence or optimism) and peeks out from pockets on pants and shirts. A sweet reminder to the next generation, for sure!

The Tank romper is the perfect play wear, and the Denim Pullover hoodie keeps kids just right in the changing temps of spring.

Online: bashandsass.com

Minibrook

Made locally in the L.A. area, this clothing brand is all about the ABCs. The whole collection is focused on the basics, giving parents plenty of mix-and-match options that will look (and feel) great, no matter what your toddler pulls out of the drawer that morning. Add in toxic-free, low-impact dyes and certified organic cotton, and you can truly feel good about the clothes your kiddo is sporting.

Mild weather calls for the tie-dye Funnel jacket with an eye-catching asymmetric zip.

Online: minibrook.co

Saint Haven

If you’ve got a sensory-sensitive kid, you know how hard finding clothes can be. Whether it’s tags that itch or fabrics that feel off, some kids need shirts, pants and dresses without distractions to get through the day. Enter Saint Haven with its special fabric softening non-toxic enzyme dip that makes clothes feel just right. The fact that each piece is also designed without tags, buttons or stealthy itchy seams is another thoughtful touch.

Check out the All Day shirt dress for something different or the All Day joggers that pair with pretty much everything.

Online: sainthaven.com

Primary Clothing

An oldie but a goodie, Primary Clothing was created by two moms in search of alternatives to the slogan-heavy, often sequined, clothing available when they were raising their kids. Now Primary Clothing is known for its bright colors, bold designs and pieces that hold up over the years. It’s where to find basic pieces in every color of the rainbow (and then some), plus jammies, swimsuits, socks and jackets.

The Graphic Tee with Rainbow Stripe is a great staple for every little one's wardrobe.
